First, I love where they put the lever to open the shackle. At the very bottom, very far from the hole, much farther than the outside lenght of the shackle. Anybody researching in Youtube will understand why this is better. Anything can get decoded/opened by a good lockpicker but there are degrees of ease. This one is much harder to divine the combination. Thieves will usually choose the easier target so as not to loiter too long and raise suspicions. Just like car thieves. Comparision : Tons of online youtube videos shows how to quickly and easily find the combination by "feel" for mechanical pushbuttons and combo wheels. They are pretty much all copies of the same two basics models. Here is how easy it is: I have never done that in my life yet I could do it right away simply by watching such a video. I do not want to tell too much about how to find combination on mechanical pushbuttons and combo wheel lockbox and padlocks. One hint for mechanical pushbuttons: the order you enter digits does not matter. This irrelevency of order also makes it much easier to feel and decode the combination. This one is three letters combination and order is important. This theoretically leads to 17 576 possible combinations. On this one, and when it is fairly new/little used, you can feel only the last character of the combination. There is a safety device eliminating the capacity to feel the other characters of the combination. Except for the last character, I could not feel any difference whatesoever giving any clue what other caracters could be. Someone more competent than me probably can open it. But the number of people capable to do it is clearly much fewer. And it clearly would require more time and more risk to attract attention. Basically, it seems to me it is the "least bad" of all non-electronic lockboxes and better than most "affordable" electronic (digital) ones (eg: most electronic one have the shackle locking bolt at the top)

Well designed and fairly easy to change the combination as often as needed.

Super heavy duty with millions of combinations that you can set yourself. You do have to take two screws out of the back of the lock when changing the combination and reinstall them but it was very simple to do. If you can handle a Phillips screwdriver and are not a complete klutz then you will have no problem selecting any combination that you want. It would be easier to destroy the door frame and lock than to get into this key box. Highly recommended. A+++ UPDATE: Question about an elderly person operating the lock box. Just to turn the dial is not bad at all. It is a mechanical dial lock and a little bit gritty and not like some $1000 ball bearing bank lock. It's more like one of those standard Masters lock that everyone had on their lockers as kids. Since there are so many possible combinations (a real plus in my opinion) it does, however, make it a bit tough for a person with poor eyesight or limited finger dexterity to align the lock on the correct combination. The other thing is that the lock is a standard right-left-right lock that you are assumed to have some knowledge of. To open it you must: 1. Turn the dial a couple of times to the right to clear the combination. 2. Continue turning the dial right to the first letter. 3. Turn the dial to the left PAST THE FIRST LETTER in the combination to the second letter in the combination. 4. Turn the dial back to the right to the final letter in the combination. 5. Manually press down on the button above the dial to open the tiny key safe and let the whole dial assembly/little door fall into your hand away from the back of the lock box the and then extract the key(s) stored inside. In other words the key door is NOT hinged. When the key box is open it is in two pieces, the dial/door as piece 1 and the lock box and loop that goes around the door knob as piece two. 6. Close the safe by replacing the tiny key door and manually pressing up on the door release button to relock the little key safe and spin the dial. Note: To initially determine what you want as the combination is a bit challenging and may be too much for an elderly person to initially set the combination. It requires opening the safe as listed above and then using a Philips screwdriver to remove a plate and slightly disassemble the lock itself to move around the little rings to set each of the three letters of the combination. Then reassemble the lock and you are done until such a time that you want to change the combination again. Sounds tough but it is easily accomplished if you closely follow the instructions. So my recommendation is to have someone younger and nimbler to initially set the combination for the elderly person and then they can probably use it with no problems. All in all I love this little key safe and would buy another one in a heartbeat! I give it an A++++

As expected. Basic but great security - I have no fear that anyone would faff around long enough to break the (simple, & self set) code. Only criticism is that it’s made for Yale type keys and struggles space wise with 5 lever lock keys. A larger version would be good.
