How can you claim to be an American company and make tools in China?

The same way that you to claim to be American but buy Chinese made products. Just because a product is made in China doesn’t mean it can’t be produced for Americans, to American standards. Did you know that China produces 70% of the worlds rare earth metals? Just remember that every time you look at a screen, because the components required to make it were from, you guessed it, China. And no, I’m not a communist, but I am for free trade, and so is Klein Tools.

8 inches at it's longest piont, the best level that i have used in my 35 years as a tradesman.

No... the magnet are in the flat side.
