Firm eraser material throughout, what an innovative idea to sandwich soft white material between sturdy, colorful layers. Carves like butter and because of the two color construction, it's easy to see background to remove. Material will hold fine cuts much better than the pink Speedball product that's available. ONLY disappointment is the limited size availability. I hope this manufacturer will realize they have a goldmine here and produce 9 x 12 and 12 x 12 pieces for the more serious artist.
