## Description

The ScanSnap SV600 is an overhead style contactless scanner that provides a new perspective on document scanning. Unlike the typical scanner, you can easily scan newspapers, magazines, books or documents of up to 30mm thick directly with the overhead LED, without cutting or damaging them. You can scan a document larger than A4 size by simply positioning it on the A3 scan mat and pressing the scan button. ## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the most disappointing feature about this scanner?**
A: I'm not sure what the "librarians are women part" was about but it was stupid. Next, this scanner exports in JPEG or PDF which can be processed with the software you mention. I have Fujitsu Twain compliant software in my FI7160 and the truth is for book scanning the SV600 software is better than any open source software I've used. Please tell me what software you are thinking about. I've used Czur Twain compliant software as well as BookSorber, both of which are far worse.

**Q: Can i use ocr with this scan?**
A: Yes you can and it's easy to run OCR.

**Q: Is this scanner compatible with Windows 10?  Is there a warranty included with the scanner?**
A: It works great with Windows 10.  We’ve been using this to scan for several months and have scanned several large books completely with no issues.  The is the 3rd Fujitsu scanner I’ve purchased. Great experience and never had to think about the warranty. These scanners just work.

**Q: Will it crop an image that is larger than the scan area? I have maps and am willing to scan in portions.**
A: Yes, it will crop anything outside the scan area.

I have been using this to scan older magazines to start with. It has worked excellent. The software straightens out curved pages (when it doesn’t lay perfectly flat) and the OCR works effectively. It will automatically scan after I remove my hands after flipping the page. One drawback that others noted is that if you mess up a page within multiple pages you cannot edit one page. You would have to rescan the whole group. Not a deal breaker just a consideration. Once you get the hang of it, it goes smoothly. It picks up the edges of the pages well and only a few times I had to individually edit the edge locations of pages. I used the included black base mat when scanning and I feel that helps in accuracy. The included software was outdated for my Mac. It auto updated the software right away so no problem. It is a heavy solid feel and is easy to use. It is faster than a flat bed for when you have lots of scanning.
