Which would be better to go for the 860 vs 870 ssd?

I've got both the Evo 860 and the Evo 870, I use them to store games and haven't noticed any discernable difference in loading times, they are both extremely fast and affordable in terms of SSD. I think the 860 is good enough but if it's only an extra few quid it may be worth getting the 870 as it is newer technology and may be better in the long run.

It can fit in anything that can hold a hard drive. It's the same length and width and a conventional HDD but slimner and lighter. If you have any issues with a normal PC tower then there are adapter kits you can buy. If you're upgrading from an old hard drive your PC will love you for it because this will remove one of the biggest data bottlenecks.

Need an answre. can this be installed/physically fit inside a macbook pro a1278, to replace the original drive, or not? and is it compatible?

In a word, yes. I’ve just done exactly that in my 1278 MacBook Pro. It was very straightforward and there are excellent walk-through videos on YouTube. It took me about 15 minutes. You’ll need a jeweller size crosshead screwdriver for the case screws (make a note where they’ve come from, as two are longer than the others) and a no6 Torx driver to transfer the drive mounts. And take great care to remove the ribbon cable gently and evenly - don’t rush it. I used SuperDuper! (free to download) to manage the cloning of the old drive to an external drive and making the clone bootable on the new SSD. A simple upgrade that has made a massive difference. Hope this helps.
