RE: Gumman's Harmony papaya leaf extract - As a chronic sufferer of ITP, am always trying to find cost-efficient ways to elevate my platelet count with good efficacy. I was getting tested monthly for the past 5 months b/c my doc was getting concerned again about my platelet count dipping too low. Having taken the pricier H***al G00d. ness brand for three months, my platelets only went from 108 to 113k. Then I switched to Harmony and took as directed. After one month on Harmony brand, my platelets jumped from 113 to 134k. Brilliant! Of course, for me, papaya leaf extract in general has a trade off - hematocrit & hemoglobin jump dramatically which is not good. But it's nice to know that when I need to get my platelets up, then I have a better choice than previously.

Raised platelets from 105 to 130 in a month, white cells went from 2.7 to 3.1 quit taking them for 2 weeks and platelets dropped to 108 and white cells back to 2.6. Started taking them again.

I needed to raise my platelets, and this had well-founded, double-blind studies. I check every supplement four times using different questions/sites to make sure I get enough info. Turned out the dose lowered my blood sugar too much (low blood sugar was not even mentioned). It took two weeks after stopping to feel somewhat normal. I'll have to make them w/ smaller capsules if I need a lower dose.

I think three stars is fair. It's not a bad product, it's just didn't work. I donate platelets every two weeks. I purchased two bottles, and took this product as directed. Not only did this not increase my platelet count, it may have caused it to decrease. After I started taking this supplement, I went from donating two units per donation, down to one. I bought it in the hopes of being able to donate three units per donation. We'll see if my platelets naturally go back up, once this is out of my system.
