Deviant Moon Tarot Book

This book is beautiful beyond works. The eclectic artwork is stunningly unique and intriguing. I love that it’s a hardcover book, it’s full-size and that he gives so much information and detail.

This is a fantastic book with large, full color pictures of the author's journey from beginning to end creating these marvelous cards. His take on each card was similar to the Smith-Waite version, but with his own spin on most cards. Each pagr is big and beautiful, glossy and thick. This isn't cheaply made. The inside front and back covers are a wonderful treat as well, with extra humorous artwork! I am a beginner teaching myself, so where I don't always understand the imagery at first for every card, his book or another Smith-Waite is useful until I am more confident in my own intuition. This book is definitely recommended if you have these cards! I love the Deviant Moon tarot cards. They work very well with me and have given nothing but spot on accurate readings. Some people seem to feel these images give off a negative or satanic vibe but I don't agree. The pictures and descriptions in his book explain how he learned about the tarot as a young boy, and he has been working on this deck in his mind for decades. Yes, it is unusual and displays some artistic nude figures. I find it deeply original and it connects well with the human condition. This book helped me rest at ease over any questionably moral images, for those that are sensitive. It is helpful for reading the cards, admiring the artwork, and makes a nice coffee table book. I will say this book and cards may not be for those with weak stomachs for horror or fantasy artwork, or have religious beliefs that disallow this type of work in general. I am fairly open-minded, educated in science, math, and music, with a Doctorate. I mention this so readers understand my background.

Amazing book and I would say a must for anyone that hade the taro deck , great artist great book great taro cards and the price is good for a big hard back book with quality paper and colors are amazing very informative to get the full potential from your Deviant moon taro!!

What’s not to like about this amazing book?? I give it a solid 5 stars. It’s a high quality book inside & out! This book is really great for a more in depth explanation of each of the cards. The artist also explains how he developed his art & ideas for the imagery. It’s full of beautiful & colorful photos. Each card is pictured on a full page. His work is absolutely amazing & brilliant! Can you tell I love it? I highly recommend this book.

This book far surpassed my expectations, and if you’re considering purchasing it JUST DO IT. After pondering it for a while I saw yesterday it was marked down considerably which was all I needed to make that decision. It was on my front doorstep when I woke this morning and couldn’t be happier. The paper stock is most substantial, the colors are vibrant, and the images are seriously intense. My home is continual looping ceremony and I could feel Deviant Moon energy filling my space in unwrapping it and touching each page. I look forward to engaging with it reverently in the near future. (Being under the weather, now is not the time) It’s been recommended from my research and many reviews, to purchase the borderless edition of the Deviant Moon Tarot deck so I’m on a mission searching for a high quality edition of the deck to accompany the book. Follow up: my cards arrived and I wasn’t as pleased as I’d hoped to be. The box is damaged and torn in various places and even wrapped in the cellophane they seem pretty flimsy. For the price I’m considering keeping them, although I haven’t made up my mind yet. There must be a high quality edition of them out there.

If you have this deck, this book is a great companion. This deck is the most blunt tarot deck I have. I absolutely love the artwork that has been included in the book. Some are just doodles as a kid. Some are more serious when the artist was older. It's just great. Buying the book is what convinced me to get the big cards, as I only owned the mini deck before. If you're a fan of Patrick Valenza, this book is a great addition to your coffee table, if nothing else.

I love this book! It's amazing. The behind the scenes of why certain symbols what chosen for certain cards is so interesting. Plus the in depth descriptions of what the meanings behind the cards. It's perfect.

I purchased this book with the cards for a number of reasons. I couldn't see that the cards had any real detailed information that came with them - which was right (only a little booklet that is not the best). I also purchased this book because I had researched the writer and found his back story quite interesting and I was keen to see how he expanded on that in his book. I love the book. It is beautiful quality - a hard cover as well. I love the images and the information about his childhood, however would have loved more background information about the cards. I also think it would have been good to provide more information about the meanings of the cards - i.e. more categories for the meanings. What I mean by this is, there could have been meanings that relate to categories such as career, love/relationships, and other key areas of life. The book does include upright and reversed meanings, but it really would have been a fantastic book if it had this additional detail. I mean, you go to the trouble of creating such a beautiful book, why not include everything relating to the purpose of the cards. The fact that this book didn't have more detail meant that it was a VERY expensive book - with only upright and reversed meanings provided, it meant this book was really overpriced. Beautiful, but expensive!
