Optimate 7 Select - 12V 10A, TM-251v3, 9-Step Gold Series Battery Saving Charger & maintainer

I'm glad I finally invested in a quality battery charger to replace decades of using a cheap maintainer (Battery Tender Jr.) and a walmart battery charger (Schumacher 6-amp), the Optimate 7 was exactly the upgrade I needed. Being a full-featured 7 amp charger, I was skeptical that it would make sense to use as a maintainer, especially on a small motorcycle battery, so I monitored both its power use at the wall using a Kill-a-Watt EZ, and its voltage output at the battery using a multimeter. Interestingly, once it goes into maintenance mode, it uses almost no power most of the time, reading 0.0W at the wall, by contrast, the Battery Tender Jr. reads a few watts any time it's plugged in, even if not connected to a battery. For the price it seems like there should be a more informative readout on it, like an LCD that tells you exactly what it's doing in plain English, but the LED light method is effective once you decode what each combination means, and it's likely for more bulletproof for anyone preferring to buy it for life. Don't be tempted by cheap junk like Noco that offer a lot of features but fail after a year or two, and may not be delivering as "smart" a charge as they promise.

This replaced an Optimate 3+ that I’ve owned and used for the past 11 years. Nothing at all wrong with the 3+! But I wanted a charger with a power supply mode, so I could use service functions and reflash the multiple modules without fear of the battery running out of power and potentially bricking one of the motorcycle’s modules. This Optimate Select 7 does the trick! With my Hex GS-911 I was able to reflash multiple modules on my K1600, customizing certain functions, and ran the ABS bleed service function and never had a low battery warning (like I usually do).

Product was packaged securely when received. Instructions were straightforward and easy to understand. Product setup and use was easy, and it worked flawlessly. Charger output cord has quick-change plug with two options for connecting to battery: terminal clamps AND ring connectors. I bolted the section with ring connectors directly to my battery cables and left it in the engine bay for quickly connecting the charger when needed. Also includes handy wall mount and a cord hook for hanging under the hood. Absolutely thrilled with this product.

Saved me a battery for years. Helps recover battery. Can only recommend.

Have had an Optimate 4 for years and this one has more features and higher output . Just hook up to battery and they will do the rest. Diagnostic panels will keep you informed what is going on and condition of battery. In my experience they do best job of fully charging and maintaining batteries. Will recondition and charge batteries that other chargers I have won't even try to charge. If could would give 10 stars ?

Second one I bought for our Work shop! Amazing Save feature for batteries pays for it self! Recommend! I had one of these since 2011 and has never failed us. Bought another one to keep our growing battery needs met with all our machines. From 2020 YAMAHA, XYZ 1000 SS R to our 2021 KAWASAKI Teryx S LE, to our 2017 YAMAHA Grizzly 700 Limited Edition to our 2016 YAMAHA Kodiak 700, Grand Caravans, Snow Blowers(electric Start) everything requires a Battery Tender when it sits for sometimes months between uses. This Battery Charger, Tender, Saver, Optimizer is Incredible. Any Battery Type, it Auto Detects and Protects it! This unit has taken batteries from what we thought were Done, Nothing but Core's and revived and saved the batteries and have been used for years after! It earns it keep and saves you hundreds of dollars in EXTENDED BATTERY LIFE, Highly Recommend. Hope this helps!

It automatically cycles through all the charging / recovery states to bring the battery to the highest charge state possible. If too much sulfation, your best bet is to rinse out the old acid, use epsom salt or something to remove the sulfate from the plates, and refill with acid (for lead acid batteries). 12.8V LiFePO4 batteries require 14.4V to charge. I use my Optimate 7 to charge my SLA, and LiFePo4 batteries. Works awesome ! Not too great for desulfation though - but then again, you can restore your SLA by cleaning the lead plates and then refilling the acid as mentioned above.

Exactly as described, and arrived faster than expected. Easy to use, and well worth the money to protect your batteries in the off season.
