## Description

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Luminous Colour Glaze only takes one 3-minute application and can be applied right in your shower. The easy-to-apply treatment by Kao USA uses Shine Enhancers to create a highly reflective surface, as well as pore menders to fill in damaged areas along each strand of hair, helping to create a smooth, more even texture. A hint of glossy, brown colour is added to all shades of natural, colour-treated, and highlighted brunette - and continued use only intensifies the hue. The result is rich, luminous, glossy hair. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Limitations may apply.

Review: Early 40s and wanted to blur my grays. This is PHENOMENAL on my virgin hair! - Ok I was torn whether to review this or not because I don't want others buying it all out - but worse would be if it was discontinued. I'm early 40s with a few gray hairs throughout my virgin (never colored before) hair and a whole chunk of them clustered around my front hairline. I do not want to stay dying my hair - I'm actually very open to going silver. However, I need it to be more than 2 inches of my long hair. Enter this Brilliant Brunette glaze, which is amazing. It's not a full dye - it doesn't go into the hair cuticle, but rather coats on top. That means results are short-lived so you have to reapply. My grays are now more caramel color, not a full match and not a gold highlight, but they blur into my darker hair much better than the stark white-silver. I do it as a treatment at my sink once a week where I use gloves and a mirror and to get every millimeter of hair (more on top but take it to the end) tinted for about 25 min. I just apply then claw clip - and rinse out in the shower. Then 1-2x a week I've applied blindly in my shower - which is messy and terrifying as twice I've tinted my face temporarily... Oops. But the coverage is phenomenal - I feel vibrant again, and my hair is so shiny and looks healthier than ever (even healthier looking than my years of curly girl method skipping sulfates and all sorts of chemicals). The product does have a scent. It's not my favorite but it's not horrible - but definitely an artificial, chemical scent. I blow dry my hair after a wash, and am washing every other day, but no other heat (curling iron/flat iron). I do have wavy hair and this softens the waves a lot - and my hair just feels so soft and smooth. If you can't tell my now, I'm obsessed. My husband would confirm by my stockpile of 3 more boxes tucked away. Oh and because I asked this, I'll volunteer: I use this with John Frieda's Blue Crush shampoo and conditioner, although I also just purchased the Brilliantly Brunette shampoo and conditioner too so we'll see how enters the mix soon! I wash and conditioner first, then do my glaze step. Lastly, be careful where this liquid touches - it will color anything it touches and FAST. Have a damp rag in the shower or by your sink to catch splatters, and protect your hands while using. I use my hands to apply - for the weekly treatment I wear nitrile gloves. For the in-shower I apply it super fast and my hands still look instantly dyed but I immediately use an exfoliating scrub that's in my shower which gets it off. It does rinse out of my hair beautifully and easily, with no transfer to the white tshirt I use to wrap/dry my hair (turban style). Also no transfer on my towel or pillow. I am already a bit nervous for how this will do in a pool or hot tub, but it's the dead of winter in New England so I have months before I worry about it much. If you do go in those environments please add to YOUR review so we keep knowledge sharing :) Again, I'm obsessed. This works well and is budget-friendly for me. It's also temporary results so I can discontinue use and return to my natural within days. I wish I had taken good before photos but I absolutely did not... and now I don't want to stop use long enough to capture a "before." But hopefully my during and after pictures are helpful (are they?)! -- ETA: ok guys, I really wanted to offer a "before" picture. So, this is my hair 6 days since my last Glaze use- just washing with my Blue Crush shampoo and conditioner. Hope this helps those on the fence, because I think I look wayyy better when I use the brunette Glaze!
Review: Terrific product! - It had a light, pleasant smell and makes hair look almost like glitter! Gray/blond strands sparkle in the sunlight. You can tell a big difference inside but when you step outside - hair is absolutely glowing!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how do you apply this?**
A: I actually don't use this as directed. I have my own way of doing it. I do not use shampoo on my hair. Every few days I take baking soda, mix it with water and let it run through my hair and massage my scalp. On a daily basis I use ORS replenishing conditioner on my hair first. Sometimes I leave it on all night and sometimes I just put it on for 15 minutes. I then rinse this stuff out of my hair and apply the John Frieda brilliant brunette to my hair focusing on the lighter spots or any grey areas. I then massage it down to my scalp. I sometimes leave the john frieda on for five minutes or sometimes an hour depending on how much time I have. I have very long hair past my waist so I don't always take the product clear to the end of my hair. I do it every once in a while but I mostly focus on the top of my head. Then after the John Frieda sits on my hair I take my shower and rinse the John Frieda out of my hair and condition my hair with Nexxus Kerafix conditioner and rinse it out. I then put Argon oil on the very tips of the end of my hair which helps when I blow dry and curl it. I have been doing this routine for a few years and my hair is the healthiest it has ever been in my life. I also do some deep conditioners on my hair with olive oil a couple times a month and a mix with cayenne pepper in it to stimulate my roots which makes my hair grow.I never get split ends. My hair hardly ever falls out and it is very soft after I blow dry it. I get tons and tons of compliments on my hair. I buy 8 bottles of this John Frieda a month through the subscribe and save which saves me $3.00 a bottle instead of ordering it only when I need it.The John Frieda will leave a slight brown stain on your head. My hair is so long that it doesn't matter to me. The stain washes out when I use the baking soda or when I use the ORS replenishing conditioner. It is not permanent.Since I have been doing this routine I have not dyed my hair once since. I use to use the 28 day one that was not permanent. My little grey hairs get highlighted and it ads a really nice color to it. The directions on the bottle say to shampoo your hair then condition your hair while your in the shower. After you rinse the conditioner you are suppose to wring out the water and then apply the John Frieda from the root to the ends and leave on for three minutes.

**Q: I had this on subscription but haven't received it for months now. Has this product been discontinued by the manufacturer?**
A: yes this item is no longer available the lest few left buy them if you need it they!

**Q: does it cover gray ?**
A: It covers my greys. I have a peppering of grey, not a ton, and it does a great job with that. I'm anticipating as I go more grey I will have to use permanent hair color. This was a great alternative to getting highlights to hide my greys, looks so much more natural and real.

**Q: how many bottles is this price for? 23.99 sounds like it's for more than one...**
A: I see it as priced for 7.99

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Terrific product!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Love this stuff! Wish it was just a little stronger
*by M***S on March 27, 2013*

I have thick dark brown hair. It's almost black at the roots, which mean my whites come in like silver glitter. I've been using this product mostly to keep the brassiness out of my highlights (soft caramel brown - lowlights really) and to help blend those whites in a little better so I can go longer between coloring/touch ups. It works SO much better than I expected. Not only are the highlighted strands staying just right, it seems to leave just a touch of gold on my whites and helps with the blending. Not much color change mind you, but the whites don't "pop" so much where my hair parts and the darker roots coming in are less noticeable now. I know some people have complained about the glaze consistency and the skin staining, but I don't seem to have a problem with the process at all. I just use it in the shower - shampoo, condition, rinse, squeeze excess water out, put a dollop of glaze on my palm and then rub into the crown of my head first (mostly around where I part my hair) and then kind of massage it into the rest of my hair. My hair is about shoulder length. While waiting I use a little exfoliating scrub soap on my hands and hairline, finish body washing, shaving and whatnot, then rinse. After 3 min or so of being in my hair, it pretty much rinses clean. I've tried this in a white bathtub too and very little color rinses out. My hair IS very porous. I have all over color done at least once every 6-8 weeks and lowlights every other coloring. I think this $9 bottle will let me stretch that timeline closer to 8-9 weeks. Win! I use the glaze about 3 times a week and I think I stretch the bottle out to last me a month at a time. That being said, the area where I use the glaze the most is shinier and has less volume so I find myself having to use styling product to get a bit more lift if I'm not going for the super shiny, straight, flat look.
