Still a good product
The product is what I need. Unfortunately when I used it the middle size expander broke.

Poor material quality and questionable design
I was not expecting a professional level quality tool as the price point was so low but, as with many of the tools I've purchased from Amazon, they usually work fine in my garage. Not so with this one! It failed during the first use. I was simply trying to remove the pinch in a muffler left from the previous use with a u-clamp. It really hadn't made much of a change in the shape of the pipe when I noticed it was suddenly easy to tighten for about a turn and a half. I took it out to see if the pipe could slide in the muffler and realized that there was some binding when loosening, this was due to the fact that the taper closest to the hex had failed and mushroomed out. While looking at this design, there are really two problems: Poor material and the ramps of the tapers are entirely too steep. You can see the cracks in the part that were the failure but they were caused by a soft material that initially allowed the cooperative part to dig into the surface as opposed to sliding along it. The deep gouges are visible in the cracked part while they are not present in the opposite taper that should be doing the same work. All in all, even if the material quality was better, the design requires too much effort from the screw due to the steep ramp angles. Look for a different design as well as a different supplier for a hobbyist pipe expander.

Ingenious idea, NOT impact worthy
I'll start by saying this product is a great idea. As seen in the picture on the right, it's just a threaded rod with two cone shaped "drivers" with a space for a nut to sit in one of them. As you turn the rod it pulls the drivers together, pushing the expansion tool outwards. The only drawback I see with this design is once fully expanded the expansion "fingers" don't form a perfect circle but more of an octagonal shape. You have to rotate tool during expansion process to evenly stretch the pipe. This product arrived with one of the largest size bands broken on largest expansion tool. This should have been a clear indication of the quality of this product. Luckily they come with a set of spares for each size tool and being optimistic I decided to try it anyway... plus I still needed my damn pipe stretched. I used this product on an 08 dodge caravan exhaust. The replacement resonator I bought was supposed to be flared to accept the muffler but instead was the same size. You know how cheap aftermarket parts are. Using a half inch impact and the appropriate size socket I started out with the second largest tool as the largest one wouldn't quite fit in the fully retracted position. Once the tool got tight inside the pipe a gave it a pretty big blast from the impact. Within seconds the driver with the nut indentation disintegrated. It was also challenging afterward getting the broken tool to retract so I could get it out of the exhaust. Luckily i had managed to stretch the pipe in question enough to get the largest expansion tool to partially into the pipe. This time i took my time and slowly expanded and retracted the the tool multiple times and in different positions. My last attempt to stretch the pipe actually broke one of the fingers in half. Also the threads on both the rod and nut are partially stripped after one use, as seen in the middle picture. Overall this product is a great idea but ime not sure it saved me any money compared to having an exhaust shop just expand the pipe for me.

Clamping
Works as designed And you will need some type of clamping system for pipe

Very brittle, handle carefully
You must grease the tools before using them. Go slowly and check the pipe diameter often. The expanding fingers are very brittle. I accidentally dropped one from about 3 feet onto the shop floor and it shattered. They do get the job done. For the price, I’m not surprised at their fragility.

Love it
Works great

Very disappointed
The reason I bought this they advertise it’s made with “heat treated metals “. The only thing that’s heat treated is the shaft. The nut is low grade. The castings that do the work are made of junk metals all mixed together which they call “alloy steel “, very low grade. The castings CRACKED , the NUT seized on the shaft, didn’t expand the tail pipe at all. Don’t waste your money.
