Can I use a piece of copper wire for an antenna with this or does it have to be a bar antenna?

Use a 26" to 31" wire. If you are broadcasting at the low end of the dial, use a 31" wire. If broadcasting at the high end of the dial, use a 26" wire. If you are broadcasting in the middle of the dial, use a 28-29" wire. If the wire is in a window, you should get anywhere from 200-400 feet range. If you are on an upper story and use your car radio to receive, it can go "even further".

What are the rx tx and gnd spots used for?

I didn't even realize they were there. They are solder pads. No info was received on their function, but I suspect that they can but used for some sort of circuit monitoring or firmware flashing and probably aren't for everyday broadcast function.

I currently am an extra class amateur radio operator.how do i program these for the 76 mhz band?

Windows doesn't recognize the board as a sound device. i get power from usb, but can only transmit via line in. thoughts?

I attempted to use the USB input with both WIn10 and Win11 laptops. In both cases it worked seamlessly. Two things to try: (1) make sure the USB cable does support data. I tried another USB cable which did not work. I checked with a multi-meter that it only connected the USB power. (2) Check Windows Control Panel and see if there is anything amiss. And make sure the audio 3.5 mm plug is not inserted in the board when you attempt the USB connectivity. When the data link to the PC is successful 'USB' is displayed in the display panel. Hope this helps.
