Or does it have to be kept at a certain temperature to work correctly?** A: The directions say it must adjust to the ambient temperature to be accurate. So you would not be able to take temp outdoors then go inside and take it immediately after and it be accurate. **Q: Can this measure the body temperature of a cheek instead doing it on the forehead?** A: It can be used to measure temperature pretty much anywhere, however cheeks have more fat underneath the skin and may not show body temperature accurately. Behind the ear/back of the neck will give you more accurate reading **Q: can it be used to check bath water?** A: Yes I don't see why not as long as you point it close to the waster surface and don't actually put it in the water.
