Post Office: A Novel

I am biased in that I will read and end up enjoying anything written by Charles Bukowski!

No need for a new review, there are so many others that explain why this book is a modern classic, so I won't go on and on. I purchased it after I read Ham on Rye. I can't say enough about the strength of Hank Buk's writing. I can't stand books that take forever to get to the point or deliberately confuse you with overly clever, complex sentence structure and words that are used so infrequently you need to look them up. I read to enjoy myself, not to give myself a migraine. Anyway, clearly, Buk's life wasn't easy. Many of his problems were his own making (as is the case with most folks, I think.) This book about his job at the post office, obviously, and how the job almost killed him in the end (11 years in total).. I hate working, I really do, and can relate to what he says. He moves you, he makes you laugh, and he makes you cry too. He offends as well; if you are female you may end up hating his guts. Once you've consumed Post Office, you'll want to purchase all his prose. What a writer!

Bukowski é bem melhor em inglês! Essa edição é boa, só a capa que é muito molenga e fica torta com muita facilidade, mas as folhas são boas, letras num tamanho bom, etc. No geral a edição permite uma leitura agradável.
