Blum 1-3/8" ® Compact Soft-Close otion Variable Overlay Hinge

These hinges are being used to retro-fit a pair of "reclaimed" kitchen cabinet doors from my neighbor's reno-project (identical cabinetry) to a new wall cabinet I am adding from a different company. Installation was straight-forward into the existing holes on the doors, though it required also purchasing replacement hinge dowel inserts from another Amazon vendor. These Blum hinges mount to the front of the face frame, not the inside edge, which gives you more latitude for setting the overlay of the door over the frame. They are a little tricky to install in the correct position on the face frame. I wound up closing the hinges, positioning the door on the face frame with the cabinet on its back on the floor, and using a small combination square to measure the distance of the edge of the hinge to the out edge of the face frame, locking it in on the square, and another combination square set against the side of the hinge. I marked the two reference lines and was then able to correctly install the hinge. Also, if you are using reclaimed doors, be sure to measure the distance from the bottom and top edges of the door pair to the hole for the hinge cup. Sometimes you get doors off of different cabinets and the hinges are in slightly different positions on the doors.
