It's just a cloth earcup so noise can get in fairly easily. If you want more noise cancelling get some leather earcups with it. **Q: Will this product work on my regular A40's?** A: No, it works with the TR series A40. The TR series ear muffs and head cushion install differently then the regular A40. I made the mistake of ordering this mod kit thinking they fit regular a40s. Visiting Astro's website will give you more insight on the TR serious even though their almost exactly the same. **Q: will the microphone and outer ear pieces work on the 2013 model a 40s** A: Mic - Yes.Ear pieces - Are magnetic clip ons. Check your current headphones and see if they've got magnetic ones. **Q: I just got the A40tr x and headpieace and ears are uncomfortable after a while of playing. Would this kit help for this issue?** A: Being someone with a big head... yes, they definitely help with comfort. I couldn’t use the regular ear cushions for more than an hour or two.
