I actually bought it for my 21-month old for Christmas but held back on giving it to him for a couple of weeks because I was afraid it would be too difficult and that he might get frustrated by the latches. I was pleasantly surprised that not only does it not frustrate him (he patiently works with the latches that give him more difficulty), but he can actually open and close 5 of the 6 latches. He really likes this toy! **Q: Do the schleich horses fit in this barn?** A: Yes. **Q: Does this brass contain lead like regular brass does?** A: No. It meets all U.S. safety standards. My little grandson is just one year old and loves fiddling with all the different closures. He hasn't yet mastered them, but he will as time goes on.
