Fits over the bridge perfectly and mutes the sound very well. I would say it almost mutes the violin by half. I'm so happy with this purchase because now I can play anytime without disturbing everyone else in the house. It does have a rubbery smell that is very strong when you first open it--it will go away, but not completely. It's not that bad and it's not noticeable when playing. It doesn't leave any marks or residue on the bridge, but I still remove it every time I've finished playing just in case.

I play late at night and don’t want to disturb my neighbors and this practice mute is perfect to reduce the volume of my violin. It works well and is easy to slide onto the bridge. I make sure it’s not touching any strings but not sure that makes a difference anyhow. What a great value. I read some reviews that said this didn’t make the violin quiet enough—but for me, it makes a very big difference. I’m very happy with it.

This is pretty comfortable to carry around, it does what it seeks to do. It mutes the violin. It's what you would imagine a semi thick rubber mute to feel like, it's sturdy but also flexible. I think it's an ok deal for the money, but you should definitely compare the usage, stability, and sound of this with a metallic one, as they serve very different mute-purposes.

Was erstmal missviel sind die übrig gebliebenen Gummireste an den Kanten des Dämpfers. Aufgesetzt dämpft er die Violine sehr angenehm und wirklich sehr leise. Auch das Klang und Spielgefühl bleibt erhalten. Macht direkt Spaß damit und ich kann endlich abends volle kanne spielen. Hab nur übersehen, dass das Ding von weit weit her kommt. Lieferzeit war dann aber wie angegeben. Klare Empfehlung!

How much excitement can I generate about a violin mute? Perhaps a little, as it saves my family and neighbours from hearing me practice all day. This eBoot slips on quickly and easily, provides a decent amount of muting without altering the sound much, and fits nicely in my violin case. I've replace my other two mutes with this one, I like it that much! If you or a family (or neighbour!) want a decent mute for practicing, this is the best I've tried.

The product works well to quieten the volume of my violin, it certainly doesn't mute it, but it reduces the volume to a level where I am comfortable practicing in my room without people in other rooms (or even my neighbours) hearing. The mute is quite tricky to apply, the rubber ends pinch together which means you either need to hold them apart to place it on the bridge (which is a tricky move to pull) or you have to push it on which causes me to worry about the bridge moving. It appears as though there is not supposed to be a pinch (based upon the product image) and so for this it loses a star.
