First off, keep in mind it's not inflated, so you'll need a pump with an inflation needle attachment. It does come with the rope, but not a clip for the pole end. So you'll need to order that separately if you don't have one (I found just one source here on desertcart; the clip was under $6, & it's of good quality). The rope is threaded through the metal clip that's embedded in the ball, but it isn't tied off. I didn't find an official knot to use when searching "tetherball knot" or other variations on that. I did find videos for a "buntline hitch", which is simple if you pay close attention, & which seems to be a good choice for this application.
