Seagate Barracuda 8 TB internal Hard Drive HDD, 3.5 Inch, 5400 RPM, 256 MB Cache, SATA 6 Gb/s - ST8000DM004

As for mechanical hard disk, storage oriented, it's great. 150-160MB/S transfer rate with just 5400 rpm is a very good deal.

well it did take some time for it to arrive, but everything is good, packaging was great and product was great also

Great product

never used, it did not sync to my pc

I recently upgraded my computer's storage capacity with the Seagate Barracuda 8 TB internal hard drive, and I must say, it has been a worthwhile investment. This HDD offers a balance of performance and storage capacity that caters well to my needs. The first notable feature is its impressive 8 TB capacity, providing an abundance of space for storing large files, media libraries, and extensive projects without constantly worrying about running out of storage. This is particularly useful for content creators, professionals working with large datasets, and anyone who requires substantial storage space. Although the Barracuda operates at a speed of 5400 RPM (rotations per minute), which might not be the fastest on the market, I found it to be quite adequate for everyday tasks. While it may not match the speed of SSDs, the Barracuda still offers reasonably quick access times and transfer rates for its class. It's important to note that this drive strikes a balance between performance and affordability, making it suitable for those who need a large storage solution without breaking the bank. In terms of reliability, Seagate's reputation shines through. The Barracuda series is known for its durability and longevity, and this 8 TB variant is no exception. I have been using it for several months without encountering any significant issues, and its consistent performance has been reassuring. There are no included instructions for installations but you can find DIY videos online for setting it up within the system.

got 3 Seagate Barracuda 8tb drives for my NAS after one month one of the drives started dying and had to be replaced , replacing/repair via segate is impossible even though it says that it's still under warranty, good luck getting into contact with any humans in their support i spent a week attempting to get in contact with them and resolve the issue and nothing ... will never be getting any Segate products again

Installed both disks in my PC. Started installing the OS and during the installation process the disk started making strange noises. After restarting the PC, the bios does not detect the hard disk.

Great for storage but requires patients to transfer large files. It uses Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) technology. The problem with SMR drives is that when you overlap the tracks like this, it means that there's no way to write to just a single track without affecting the data on nearby tracks. Writing data to an SMR drive requires that the drive scan multiple tracks at once and then rewrite them. There's a significant performance penalty for doing so.

Tavsiye ederim....

Never disappoints

I'm happy with it but it did drop down to 7.5tb when installed and then to 7.1TB after first restart not shure why.

Why I ordered this item: My old drive was getting full and I needed more room for game installs and video files. 8TB for the price seemed like a good amount of space. Likes: * This thing is zippy for a spinning drive. I moved a folder of video files over and it kept a steady clip the whole time. * Install was easy. Just SATA power and data, nothing screwy about it. * It's quiet. I've got it mounted a couple feet from my desk and I don't hear it spin up. * 8TB is a lot of room. I loaded up a bunch of games and barely made a dent. No likes: * It ships in just an anti static bag. No screws, no cables, no enclosure. If your case doesn't have a tray for this you'll need to source your own hardware. * It's a mechanical drive so it's not going to feel speedy like an SSD. Dont expect quick boot times if you put your OS on this. * Mine runs a little warm under heavy transfers. Nothing alarming but I'd keep an eye on airflow in your case. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: This is a good bulk storage drive for games, media, or backups. It's not built for speed so keep your OS and programs on something else.
