Use the "open camera" app on the store, its free then set the audio to external mic. Also make sure that the app isn't saving to an external sd card. No matter how fast your sd card is the footage will lag or not record audio when someone is speaking into the mic at close range. It's just normal with external storage because it's slower and an external mic is a lot to take in while recording video at the same time. It's not the fault of the mic at all and it's an easy fix.
