It works for FFXIV input alongside controller!
Here is what I did to setup the device for use with my Xbox Elite Series 2 controller.- Ensured the xbox controller was fully updated via the Xbox accessories app on the Xbox.- Turned the controller off.- Plugged in the chatpad until it made a good solid connection. (It does not click into place)- Plugged the 2.4GHz receiver into the Xbox.- Turned on the controller (the chatpad lit up solid green) and immediately pressed the sync button on the chatpad.- Tested the chatpad in game and it is working perfectly.----------------------------------------Now, onto the functionality in game. This chatpad is a literal USB keyboard. I bought this because I started playing Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV). My hope was that this chatpad could act as extra inputs for regular hotbars alongside the controller cross-bars. I disabled the direct chat setting in-game and setup a hotbar on-screen. I then setup the keybinds on the chatpad that I wanted for the hotbar. Finally, I added the actions I wanted by using the virtual mouse to drag the actions to the hotbar. It works perfectly! I now have all the general actions I need set to the hotbar and bound to the chatpad. Meanwhile all my crossbars are setup for combat. It also still has the regular keybinds for keyboard, this allows me to still quickly use the chatpad for chat by pressing enter on the chatpad and typing out my message.---------------------------------------The negatives.- The chatpad construction feels sturdy but while inserted into the controller it does have a slight flex if you press with a decent amount of force on the sides of the chatpad. As long as you don't slam down on the chatpad with a ton of force it should be ok.- It is going to decrease the battery life of the controller but not by much. The chatpad draws 40mA while the keyboard is lit but the backlight turns off after 6 seconds of no use. It also draws an extra 0.8mA when a button is pressed. Not enough to worry about for me.- The button inputs are momentary. You can't walk around continuously while using WASD input. That may be an issue for some users who want that.Overall, these negatives are not enough to be an issue to me. For some these may be dealbreakers.--------------------------------------This chatpad is amazing for the price. I can see myself using it for a long time. I will update this review if I have any issues with it or if it stops working.

PC review. Cheap materials, odd layout, reasonable function.
The following review is made with product.Compared to the absolutely lovely Xbox 360 Microsoft chatpad, the product looks and feels cheap. It also does not sit flush with my controller, but it does feel well attached. Have no idea how well the 3.5mm jack passthrough works, I already have headphones for my PC. not a huge fan of key layout either. The backlight is useful, but maybe too bright for my preferences. The keys are responsive and have good haptic feedback, but feel a bit too soft and are a bit small for my fat thumbs. You also pretty much have to use sticky keys, and the backspace being near space and shift is meh.Aside for the gripes I figure it will mostly take getting used to, which I'm sure will come with use. I use this now with FFXIV and enjoy being able to chat without reaching for a keyboard. I'm also using the number buttons for party targeting and have some hotbar functions on the upper left. With JoyToKey or a similar program I use the controller to emulate mouse to brows the web or navigate here to write this review. For the most part I would definitely recommend this for PC use.During the typing of tis review, I corrected about five typos, but that should alleviate with practice.

Good For What It Is
The Good------------------+ Lets you add a keyboard to your controller.+ Has all the core buttons needed+ Backlit so you can see the buttons even in the darkThe Bad------------------- It sits too low to really be useful in most situations. The Nitpicky------------------= You have to actually hold the Shift button down to get a capital letter or symbol such as !@#$%= Would have much preferred BT over another little dongle to keep track of/eat up a USB port.= Some of the buttons, like the backspace, are in odd places, such as next to the spacebar.= Could use with a few additional color options to mesh better with some of the other controller colors out thereThoughts-----------------The device does what it is advertised to do, so in that regard I have no complaints/cannot fault the device/company. That being said, the keyboard just sits too low to really be useful. You still have to reposition your hands that takes them away from the analog sticks and other buttons and your hands are down at the edges of the grips making it kind of an awkward hold. On top of that it changes the weight distribution of the controller making it a bit awkward to use. It also makes it more difficult to pick the controller up once you set it down on a table or something.I'm sure given some time I could have developed the muscle memory needed to be able to type with it relatively efficiently, but given it requires me to reposition my grip so that I can no longer really access some of the controller's buttons means it's really only useful for situations when I am in an idle state in whatever game I'm playing. You have to hold the shift key down to get capital letters or symbols. While this is no different from any regular keyboard, there being only the one shift key means pretty much any letter or symbol on the left side of the keyboard requires you reach across with another finger, which results in an even more awkward grip and likely having to look down at the controller to make sure you're hitting the right button. Given all of this, I'm probably better off just having an actual keyboard nearby, even if it means setting the controller down sometimes to type.Overall, the buttons remind me of old Blackberry phones, except softer rubber instead of hard plastic. They feel pretty substantial and have a small audible click when depressed so you know it was fully depressed. If anything they maybe have a little too much resistance, but that might be something that loosens up over time. All in all, the idea is much better than the execution, which is unfortunately one of those things you can't really fully understand until you experience it for yourself. The MFR didn't misrepresent the device, and they are constrained by the form factor of the controller, but the fact remains that the idea of this device (and all those like it) is much better than its execution. If your primary use for it is to do things like enter in passwords, it's going to be great. If you want to use it for basically anything else... you'll probably be happier with an actual keyboard.

It looks better than it is.
The product is made of cheap light plastic and though light is nice, it's borderline bad quality. The keys are small and hard to hit accurately with bigger hands rendering it fairly annoying to use but it seems responsive enough. The lighting on the keys isn't great but it's ok for low light gaming. The keys feel cheap but functional, you won't be raving about it but you will probably find it serviceable. The real issue for me is that I thought it worked like a regular controller chat pad and the dongle was optional, it is not. I have no more free spots for dongles on my gaming rig and didn't plan for this issue at all. I have literally used it for one day and found it's just not worth the hassle to plug it and unplug it to use my keyboard and mouse. I fully regret this purchase and caution anyone who considers it to closely read everything about it first before you jump. It's not a bad product it's just not what I wanted or needed. It's one flaw is big enough to kill it for me and I wish I returned it immediately.

Broke immediately
The L button stopped working after one use. It’s really annoying to not be able to type anything with the letter “L”

Great accessory
Easy to install. Makes typing so much easier and quicker.

So much easier than the on screen keyboard (on xbox)
I had tried using a full sized wireless keyboard, but that caused some games to crash. Using this, so far no problem with any game crashing.Yes the repeat delay is quite short so double letters are common until you get used to releasing key as it clicks. It was easy to fit to the controller, I found lining it up then holding the controller by the sides and pressing down on a solid surface made the unit fit properly. I did try other ways but you end up pressing triggers or buttons as you connect the two.The battery drain on the controller is quite high and you will see 'Controller battery is low' more often. On the plus side anything that needs a text input (Netflix search/chatting etc) becomes trivial to do.Only thing I would suggest is the addition of maybe small foam pads on the inside of the part which marries up to the controller handles, as there is a slight wobble where they don't exactly mate together.

Highly recommended so far
I have only had it for a little over 24 hours but it works great so far! Love it!I just have a couple of gripes.- I don't like how the only thing keeping it still is the connection to the controller. Every time I push a button, I can feel it bending the connection. Though, I don't think there is a fix for this unless you want a massive attachment.- It does not feel durable and will last long. For one, cheap plastic.- Sometimes it won't register your inputs and other times it will overdo like pressing "f" and getting ffffI use it on the original 1st gen Xbox one controller. All in all, 20$ for this, assuming it lasts at least half a year, is fine. So, 15$ more isn't the worst.

Funziona
