K-302-K-NA Widespread 1/2-Inch Ceramic In-Wall Two-Handle Valve System, 8" Centers, Durable Brass

We have a large shower with two valve independent handles and no thermostatic or other nanny state regulating valves. I like my water controlled by me, and besides, we only keep the water heater at 125F anyway. So, we redid the shower and as a "while you're in there" kind of thing, decided it would be foolish not to replace the 17-year-old valves while access was available. We bought two as we actually have two independent showers in one large stall. Our plumber roughed these in with PVC with no issues and mounted them securely to 2x4s with straps. We bought the Coralais trim kit/handles which look great, and each valve just outputs to a shower head (no tub). It's 1/4 turn from full off to full on on each side. The valve feels very substantial and satisfying, and when you hit the end of its travel, there is no mushiness--it feels solid. The plumber thinks these should do well for a long time. I like them because plumbers like Kohler--they are well-made and parts are always available. I'm pleased with the purchase. This was an excellent value.

I had purchased another brand from a local home store, I was so disappointed when I took it out of the box. It was junk (plastic valves, and just cheap tubing comprising the remainder of the unit). This valve is absolutely top quality. 100% Brass and/or Copper, no plastic, no where. You can't even get one of this quality at your local home store, not from any manufacturer (including Kohler). If you want a great valve, at a very fair price, you won't go wrong with this. FWIW, I used the Kohler K-T7744-3-CP Triton handles. They look a bit 'antiquey' but if that's the look you want, they are great. All around, I can't say enough good stuff about this. Another reviewer mentioned this arrived cracked, geez, I'm not even sure how that's possible, this is a large hunk of metal.

This is a reasonably priced, high quality valve. The first one was damaged, there was evidence that someone else had returned it. Second was fine. BUT, here's the catch and reason for 1 star deduction, the lowest priced trim set for it cost $450 and go up from that!

I had to replace the shower handle section of my bathroom shower and, after lots of researching, decided to get this product. I converted the connections to the Shark Bite pieces and was able to get this installed within a few minutes, without leaks. It's a great product and I would recommend this to anyone.

WATCH OUT! Amazon sent me a used valve. This comes with union fittings, both for if you use a threaded pipe or a soldered tube. The threaded unions were used, the smooth metal face for the seal was scratched and the flanged lip had pipe wrench grip marks on it, both pieces ( hot and cold side). Also, the cold valve turned counter clockwise to open, but the hot turned clockwise to open, indicating someone had already "reversed" the direction of the hot valve. The union ends for the soldered connection option looked in much better shape, but the hot side continued to leak (at the metal to metal seal) connection. Looking again, the inside face of the hot valve was scratched and had marks in it, I had to polish with steel wool several times (and I mean 10-12 times) before I finally got it to stop leaking. But I am scared to death that after I close the wall up and install the new shower this thing will drip leak causing much damage with time. I should have sent it back. Amazon, if you are listening, my wall is not closed yet, and if you send me another, I will return this one and rewrite this review. You should NOT resell returns without inspecting them closely. (I shouldn't have installed without inspecting the seal faces and checking operation). I did not expect to buy a used shower valve!

The shafts for the handles are very, very small and the pieces between the handle and the shower wall are plastic

Installed easy with the balanced Kohler knob kit. Soldered in pex fittings for connecting hot and cold. Cold side is labeled on the left when main lines are on bottom and have no idea if that really matters but better safe than sorry. The kohler compression unions leaked so I had to polish with scotch brite pad till it sealed good then tighten them up good with a 15in crescent. Be very careful and maybe tape them up to avoid dings and scratches. Valves have a light feel and super easy to open and close. Took out the restrictor and have awesome flow and pressure now. Very happy so far.

Used this in a tight spot for a stand-alone tub that required the valves to open 90deg from standard. Was easy to reconfigure the valves and with the included stem extensions, fit the valve trim I had great. Solidly built and packaged well for shipment.

Good quality. Matched the old unit it replaced well. The trim kit you need is way overpriced and the only one that fits.
