Can this be reconfigured as a range extender?

Yes, Give the router its own IP and then turn off DHCP. Plug cat5/6 into ports, 1-4 ( cable coming from other router. Depending on how many times you have added a router, will depend on the IP that you give it. If this is just the 2nd router, setup IP as 192.168.1.2, then make sure all your wireless settings are correct, and turn off DHCP. Power cycle the router and your should be good to go. I have 4 routers on my network.From the looks of some of the comments, I don't think there is a clear understanding of repeater and bridge and extend. Please learn what all these mean, in terms of networking, before you answer a question. You are only misleading people. This is and cannot be a repeater. You WILL need a network cable run from either your modem, or another router, to supply internet.

Have comcast but computer in other room barely works connected via wifi....will this help or even work?

Have you set it up with your computer/laptop ? then try turn off router and the wifi together and wait for 2 minutes at least and with computer connected to the wifi router open web browser to launch Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router setup instruction. If you do not see the setup instruction type linksyssmartwifi.com in the address bar hope. hope this will help you cause it work on all my devices after going thru the process stated above.

I upgraded to 200mbps internet speed. i alreay purchased arris surfboard sb6 as the modem. will speed test show 200mbps or trottle it down at 100mbps?

What model of modem did you buy?  Usually, the model number on the surfboards look like sb6xxx.   Since you are paying for 200Mbps, your modem is going to be the first chokepoint but if you bought a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, then you should be able to reach speeds of 300Mbps.  This specific router states on Linksys.com that the max link rate is 867Mbps.  Given that you are hard-wired with cat 6 ethernet cable installed correctly (i.e. no runs over 100ft, no kinks, etc.) then you should be able to hit your 200Mbps speed provided by your ISP.  Your wireless speed is determined by the server you are pinging as well as interference in your area and other devices in use on your network.  A caveat, though, is that each category of internet speeds provided by your ISP is usually "up to..." so basically they will provide speeds up to the 200Mbps but no lower than the category under the one you pay for.
