If you're trying to decide between the Bushacre 2 (B2) and the Original Desert Boots (ODB), I think these are a fantastic value
First off, yes they are a half to a full size too large. I bought a 10 and I normally buy 10.5 or 11 in sneakers (depending on brand). Also, my shoes are the "Beeswax Leather", which is gorgeous. I see there's also a "Beeswax" option and I don't know if that is different or not. Moving on... As you will know if you've been researching, these B2s have a synthetic sole vs the "crepe" sole on the ODBs. Clarks touts the cushioning of the crepe sole, so perhaps that is the main selling point. I have to note that the B2 synthetic soles ARE hard and not cushy. I went ahead and dropped in some Dr Scholls gel inserts and I can wear them comfortably all day. I've also read that the leather may be somewhat better on the ODBs and that they have brass eyelets (although it doesn't currently say that on the ODB Amazon description, so it may no longer be the case). One thing is for sure, and that is that the B2 is over $30 cheaper, at $60 vs $96 (Beeswax, size 10M as of 4/15/17). While the ODB's crepe soles may be more comfortable, a unique cream color, and the more classic style, I like the understated all-brown look you get with the B2. Apparently the crepe soles are also known for wearing out faster and losing grip when wet. Having worn the Bushacre 2 for about 6 months in wet weather, I don't find myself worrying about slipping during normal activities. The soles may lack tread, but they do have a significant texture to them that provides perfectly adequate grip. I even (inadvertently) wore them on a brief hike once, and yeah, they aren't good for walking in mud, but they aren't hiking boots. On the trail they were fine, normal—about the same as any regular sneaker. Incidentally, the mud wiped off easily with some damp paper towels and they came out looking exactly the same as before. As for the leather, I was prepared to accept the supposedly lower quality compared to the ODB, but honestly the leather is great. It's not thin, it is pliable and comfortable but still sturdy, and it looks fantastic. I scratched it in one spot on a stick during my hike, but the blemish just gives it character. That's the beauty of leather shoes, anyway: I'm really looking forward to these aging further and acquiring that worn leather look. And I know the synthetic soles will really last and and not wear out before that happens. For all these reasons, I think the B2 is a great shoe and probably the better value compared to the ODB. Before I bought these I was looking at other styles of chukkas from Clarks and other brands, so allow me to make a few observations about the style as well. I was a little worried about these being comfortable around the ankle because they lack cushioning and I thought they might dig into my Achilles area. Here's why that's not a concern at all: unlike a traditional boot, the laces are low and don't tighten up around your ankle, but on the top of your foot instead. The leather is pliable and sits gently on your ankle with lots of play. So that, along with the fact that they fit great all over and with the addition of some Dr Scholls, makes these actually one of my most comfortable pair of shoes. I had originally been looking for kind of an everyday boot, sort of a chukka style with a more chunky boot sole, but I couldn't quite find one I liked (Timbs are too chunky, Redwings too expensive, some of the other Clarks didn't have good color options, etc.). So I'm still kind of in the market for that, but in the meantime these B2s were by far the least expensive shoe I looked at, they look fantastic, and I'm really glad I picked them up.

Classic Chukka Boot at best price
Clarks Men's Bushacre 2 is the way to go for Chukka Boot. Quality leather from Clarks just makes it best value for money. And the Beeswax color just elevates the leather even more. It is lightweight and comfortable for a leather shoe right from the start. The size runs big.

These are GREAT!!! Fit my big feet fine
Okay, so here we go. I received my 2nd pair of these shoes yesterday. The first pair (as another reviewer mentioned) looked like they came from different dye lots. One was brown and the other was BROWN. Sent them back, no problem. A couple days later I received the replacements. Color was fine. When I first put them on I had on white athletic socks. I also have thick (veritcally) and wide feet. I could barely get my foot in and it pulled my sock so that my toes were almost curled underneath my feet.. Again, going back to reviews I had read here on Amazon, they fit snug at first and then relaxed after being worn a bit. I wore them to a Bible study at my church with out socks. They fit tight across my instep and top of foot at first. By the time I got home they felt pretty ok. I am wearing them today (day 2) with dress socks and they feel fine. Like most shoes they need to get broken in (even though they come with that look) I anticipate these becoming my go to shoes. I am not much of a tennis shoe kind of guy (yes I own a pair). For years I have been wearing a pair of Timberland oxfords that I loved. Time and shoes do not go well together and after 4 years I have had to put them in the "yard work" category. I am hoping these hold up as well. Following up... The more I wear these the more I love them! Being summer time I am not wearing them as much, however most Sundays I am wearing them to church, they look great, they feel great and the soles have this cushiness to them that adds comfort. I still can't wear them with my heaviest socks but that is ok, I have enough other socks. in the words of Cramer from CNBC,,, buy buy buy!

Minimalist boots.
I love these boots. They look great and fit well. I normally use a 10.5 in most sneakers, but these 10's fit fine. This is my second pair, and the price point was very good. Are they real leather? I think so. Don't expect a lot of cushioning as they are pretty minimalist. They are not in the same category as premium boots, not are they work boots. They are just good kicking around boots, which definitely have a place in your closet.

Classic Boot Right out of the Box
A classic Chukka boot made by Clark for decades. Same quality as always. Stylish and durable. Foam insoles are recommended for cushioning as they are pretty firm for all day comfort without some extra padding under foot. I have these in two different leather finishes but prefer the classic light suede. Would buy again.... A+

Great shoes, terrible laces, no arch support.
These are a great pair of shoes. However... the laces they ship with are just about the worse lightweight laces Clark's could find. Yes, they really are that bad and that's what's keeping me from giving us a four-star rating. Because the quality of leather is top shelf. You'll also need to get yourself a shoe insert because there's literally nothing by way of arch support in the shoe itself.

A great boot for the price, give you lots of wardrobe options
Pros: -Comfy as all getout -Look GREAT (I got the dark brown). -Dressy enough for khakis -Look awesome with jeans -Well made (for the price) -Sole is quality (not showing any unexpected wear after a couple weeks heavy use) Cons: -Potentially ½ size too big? -Leather a tiny bit thin, but still, surprisingly good for price -Laces are cheap looking, will probably have to replace These are great boots, I've been wearing them all over the place. They are very comfortable, and seem well made for the price. I really wanted some of the high-end chukkas, but "settled" for these. Yes, they're not the same level of quality as the $300 boots I had my eyes on, but they are very well made by today's cheap shoe and boot standards. As far as the sizing, I used to be a 13 but shoe sizes seem to be creeping up, so I got a 12, and 12 is still a tiny bit large, but not enough to go 11. I think 11 would be too small, and they don't offer half sizes on these. I think they're re-sole-able, so I'll let you know how that goes in a year or so. Also, I like the sole on these. I know there's another classic Clark's chukka with the beeswax sole (they are supposedly more premium and cost more) but I specifically avoided them because a few people I know have had them, claimed they loved them, but that cheap waxy sole wore out fast. Last thing, I'm not actually a hipster, but a mid-thirties business professional. My office is a shirt-and-tie kind of place, so with a good coat of polish these are passable (especially with this wintery weather) with khakis and a dress shirt. In my opinion, they’re a bit too “boot-ish” for nicer slacks with a shirt and tie though. Otherwise they go great with jeans too, overall these will give you tons of wardrobe flexibility.

Good stuff
I am a fan of Clarks. These boots are in the same quality line of the producer. Color looks better than photos. A little stiff at the beginning but they are getting softer. The size run larger, so always order the exact size your wear. You can add a winter socks so all good.
