Installation was straight-forward; take the time to watch installation video(s) online to get a helpful overview of the entire procedure before you begin. The instructions are ok; the colored bags of fasteners help a lot as you go through the steps. After removing the old opener, I spent an entire afternoon installing this new one, being fussy with measuring and wiring. For safety and convenience, have someone help for a few minutes to lift and steady the assembled opener for the elevated portion of the install; fortunately, the unit is more bulk than it is heavy. In comparison to the old Sears opener it replaced, this Genie seemed like a feather. Programming the close and open limits was easy, and the down and up pressures set automatically. It accepts two regular LED bulbs for decent illumination of the garage space. Since this was a workshop application, I didn't sync the opener to a vehicle, but programming the fob was easy. Two fobs are included along with a wall control, plus an outdoor pad! It's hard to imagine this unit will last 40+ years like the old Sears model but many of the Genie features are clearly superior to the old unit. Bottom line: I will be buying another Genie Chain Max for the other overhead door in the future.
