Contrary to belief that plastic is cheaper, they use the PEX type plumbing model. It's plastic tubes with quick connects. It works just like the PEX piping and it's a clean, easy install. You don't need a plumber to install it, just make yourself do it. It's a plug and play system. As for water quality? I have no idea. I bought it becuase Consumer Reports recommended it. They rated it based on smell and taste. Hmmm? I didn't read that closely. I want it to filter out all the crap so it's not going into my body. I hope it does that. I haven't been able to find much online about it. Maybe I will do a water test and see and I can post the results here. We shall see. It's hard to rate with stars. I mean, it works. The water flow is amazing. There are no leaks. It was easy to install. So I will give it five stars for that reason but that doesn't mean the water is any good. I mostly wanted to comment because I saw people saying it's a cheap system. It's not. It's using the newest, easiest technology. Seriously, PEX makes it so anyone can plumb their own house now and GE used it so you can install your own water filter and have no leaks, no problems.

Surprisingly easy install except for the normal plumbers problem of having to lie on your back pull yourself up with one arm while you reach up in the tight little corners to screw stuff down. If you have to drill through a granite countertop, I strongly recommend calling a countertop company like I did and asking if somebody can come out and drill a hole. Once installed there were no leaks and it worked perfectly. Water is absolutely crystal clear and has no smell or taste. If anything changes I will update my review but right now I am extremely happy.

I have used this filter system for 6 years replacing the filters every six months. The water taste and smell is much better than it was without the filter. I can't smell any chlorine and there is basically no detectable taste. I highly recommend them.

Good product but the cold water adapter is garbage. Not sure if is physically possible to tighten to where there are no leaks without stripping the cheapo plastic fitting. Works great with a proper adapter

As long as they keep making these, I will keep buying them. This is probably my fith or sixth unit. They are super easy to install. I paid a plumber to install the first one so that I could get a dedicated water valve and not have to highjack the cold water line. I wanted to be able to shut it off and still have a functional sink. The water from this is perfect. Tastes great. Goodbye bottles which definitely saves both the pile of recycling as well as the budget. I have tried, once, to just replace the filter. I don't know what I did wrong but it cracked the top. I had a slow leak that took me forever to track down. So now, I just replace the whole unit. I only use it for drinking water and there are only two people in the house. One unit will last upward of two years before the presure starts to drop. I assume that is the filter telling me it is full. The taste never drops. Buy this! You won't be disappointed.

Improved water taste and smell.

Came on time. Was the correct item. Fit well. No leaks.

Arrived quickly packaged well so no damage or missing parts. I had the same type unit already that was leaking so this was to replace one. I bought the same model thinking I could simply change out the heads and filters and be done with it. NOT SO......GE changed the hose sizes and this new unit could not be switched out. As a result, I had to hire a plumber to completely remove the old unit and re-install this new one. It was an expense I didn't have to have if GE had not changed the hose sizes. Overall, I'm pleased with this new one. The water flows much better. In addition to needing a plumber to change out the units, the filters from my old unit doe not fit this new one. So I lost another $50 there is having to toss two brand new filters. I can't really complain. The old GE unit came with the house we've been in for 13 years so I'm guessing this new unit will last similar and won't have a problem for another 15 years. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase and the performance.

Sharing my experience installing it. There was a leak at the plastic water supply fitting (where it connects to the input pipe). I'm not a plumber, but I've done many of these installations over many years, therefore I don't think I did anything wrong, and believe the plastic part was defective. Problem was that when I contacted GEappliances to buy a replacement part, the answer was that they don't offer it. That was frustrating, and I was about to return the item. Then a plumber improvised for me a fitting with standard metal parts, and finally I've got it now installed without leaking. The system may be very good (will see over time), but not being able to obtain a replacement for the flimsy plastic fitting was frustrating. Thanks for the attention. Carlos

These filters seem great at filtering, which is most important, but the flow rate through the pair at 65 psi (our home pressure) is pretty low. Takes 20 to 30 seconds to get a glass of water. Doesn’t sound bad until you do a couple hundred.

Well it's good and easy to install. The value for money seem okay considering that I bought the faucet from Amazon not sure where else I can I buy these filters. It's a good buy because I needed them.

Wish it was a little less expensive but it is the filter my system requires. Received the correct order the very next day.
