As a learning/teaching aid, these things are super cool! They are see through and have an opening, with plug, to fill each shape with water, and demonstrate the concept of volume! I liked them as an introduction into shapes, and when I got them, I saw that they were to teach all about volume too! By far, one of the coolest little sets to have in your classroom/homeschool. They could stand to be a little more sturdy, and durable. I'm afraid to drop them. Also, should come with a graduated cylinder, for filing the shapes, and precise measuring. When my students struggle with the paper portion of it, we go back to these and I let them hold it while counting. Then we refer back to the paper. These have been a life saver in my small groups. I've read people reviewing saying that theirs were falling apart out of the box and all I can think is they got a defective product. I bought two boxes and all of the shapes are fine. Most of the shapes have three pieces: the small, removable piece covering a hole (for filling) and then the removable side piece (for easier filling and cleaning) and finally the rest of the shape. They are all solid, but you are not paying for shatter resistant pieces of acrylic. This item would cost much more if you were. They are simply shapes made of thin, but not too thin Plexiglas.
