Are just 5 rollers enough to do your whole head of hair?

My hair is very fine and, unfortunately, starting to thin a bit (I'm old). It hits just at or a bit below my shoulder line. I have no problem getting all my hair on 5 rollers. In fact, I've been known to get it all on just 3. I'm looking at this set to replace a set like them that is well over 20 years old. That set has served me well! The lid did crack - but it's still functional. The rollers are in fine shape, but I don't think the unit gets as hot as it used to and that is why I am looking at replacements.

What are the dimensions of the unit? I want to put it in a small carry on bag. Thank you.

Hi Heather, I have this set, here goes on measurements! The longest way, (side to side) is 7", next (back to front) is 5-1/4", top to bottom 4-1/2". I don't think they say in the description, but these don't come with the wire "U" shaped pins which would fit in the little well you see in the front of the unit. They come instead with the plastic clamp/comb type holders that you would have to put in a separate baggie. Some people say this adds extra bulk to the luggage. Mine is a "stay-at-home" set, so I don't have an opinion on that! Hope that helps, have a lovely trip! :)

how long does it take to heat up?

They are warm between 2-5 minutes. However, and the directions in box state this, the get hotter the longer they are on and it will depend on your hair type for how hot you need them.

What size rollers are in this set

The circumference of the roller - 5", the diameter - 2" and the length - 2". I use the rollers to give me volume at top and the crown of my head.

Compact hot rollers

First time to purchase a hot rollers set. Perfect for travel and wouldn't take a lot of space. Even though its dual voltage (with a US plug), I think using it in a 240V setting makes the unit not heat up quickly or not enough (not exactly sure how hot the rollers should be). However, I did put the hot rollers on (just warm to touch) and it still gave my hair volume and curls with just less than 5 minutes. Make sure to check and change the setting from 120V to 240V (at the bottom of the unit) to match the voltage of the country you are in.
