Hook's Revenge, Book 1 Hook's Revenge (Hook's Revenge, Book 1) [Schulz, Heidi, Hendrix, John, Hendrix, John] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Hook's Revenge, Book 1 Hook's Revenge (Hook's Revenge, Book 1) Review: Hook's Revenge, Book 1, Great Read for Everyone! - Hooks Revenge is a book you can't put down! I read at night before I go to sleep, I didn't go to sleep until sometime after 3:30am, and I'm a fast reader. Since I read it, and it's well written, I can't stop thinking about it. Jocelyn, the heroine of the book takes us back to Neverland, What a great trip it is too, meeting the lost boys, a monster crocodile that means to eat her, a fairy that loves her, a ragtag pirate crew that keeps you laughing, her best friend and more. You fall in love with Jocelyn and her buddies, it leaves you wanting more of her adventures. I have to ask myself how the author had all this in her head!! I've thought about this book and the morals of the stories (there's several) more than I've thought about a book in years. I don't usually read books for middle age people, but I'm giving books to my grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and some best friends. I've read several books for this age, thinking I would get several different books, but this is the ONE for all of them. I bet they won't be about to wait for the second book either. I know my book club is going to love it too, so much to talk about, so many fun things to do with it. Even my husband loved it, he usually likes murder mysteries.lol I can't say enough about this book, I'm sorry there are only 5 stars. Review: Great book - Great book. Immensely funny and hilarious, with lots of excitement and adventure, complete with fantastic characters. I recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure.

This is one that shall not disappoint! This story is about Captain Hook’s daughter Jocelyn
“Hook’s Revenge” is such a cute story. This is one that shall not disappoint! This story is about Captain Hook’s daughter Jocelyn. She is such a spunky character. I loved her to pieces. Jocelyn is sent to a school for girls to be taught how to be a proper lady but the only thing that Jocelyn wants to be is a proper pirate. Schulz does a great job in bringing Jocelyn to life for her readers. I have read a lot of Peter Pan retellings and sequels and I have to say that “Hook’s Revenge” is one of the best. I was hooked right away. I don’t read a whole lot of middle grade books but this is definitely a series that I will go back too. I think Jocelyn is a character that people will love no matter what their age is. I love that a lot of the original Peter Pan characters show up in this novel. I think it brings a very fun element to the story. I love that Schulz put her own spin on the Peter Pan and Captain Hook legend. One thing I really like about this book is it is told by a storyteller. I think this creates a very unique way to read. In a way this adds a whole different character to the story and I think he is just as entertaining as Jocelyn herself. I am looking forward to getting to know the narrator and Jocelyn more along with all of the other characters. If you like classic fairy tale retellings, this is definitely a book to get. It is so much fun. If you ever have the chance to meet Heidi Schultz, take it! She is such a sweetheart. You is an author that every person should meet.

A Jolly-Good Read!
My husband and I read this marvelous story to each other, one or two chapters at a time, every Saturday morning until we finished. Every week we couldn't wait to get back to it. We are not generally ones who would keep interested in a book directed at teens, but this caught our attention immediately, and kept us going through the whole story. This is a finely crafted tale full of wit, suspense and thoughtfulness....it's an all around jolly-good read! Meeting again some familiar characters was as delightful as meeting Jocelyn and others for the first time. We were so impressed by the author's ability to so describe The Neverland so richly. The personalities of the characters were introduced with such witty detail they will be endeared to us forever. Reading this out loud to each other was especially fun. Getting to "be" the narrator with his disdain for us (the readers) was a real treat. This is a must read for adults as well as teens.

Neverland Has Never Been Better
"Settle in, I suppose. Do be sure not to touch anything, and for heaven's sake, please don't breathe so loudly. If you're quite comfortable, I'll pour myself a little drink and begin. If you are not comfortable, I'll begin anyway. Your comfort is of little concern to me." Jocelyn Hook dreams of sailing the high seas to avenge her father's death by killing the Neverland crocodile. Instead, she's been sent to Miss Eliza Crumb-Biddlecomb's Finishing School for Young Ladies where they say she is ready for (gasp!) a corset. But, Jocelyn can hear the tick-tick-tick of the crocodile's hateful clock. Full disclaimer: I know Heidi. I like Heidi very much. But even if I didn't, I would adore this book and tell you to grab a copy now. HOOK'S REVENGE is a wonderful addition to the Neverland story, staying true to Neverland's promise while fracturing it in the best of ways. Because let's be honest, Tinkerbell is a spiteful little thing and we all know it. And that narrator? I love him. I want to be him. In fact, I'm going to start working on my surly disdain today. Why are you still here? Go away. I told you to go get this book.

This Book Is A Treasure
This is a fast, fun little read full of swashbuckling fun and vivid characters. HOWEVER it may be a little too dark for younger readers. There is a particularly unsettling description of a rotting corpse, one character has a limb chomped off by a giant crocodile (handled in a cartoony way), there are tribes of cannibals, the narrator makes a few off-color remarks that may be uncomfortable to discus with younger children, and the protagonist faces more than a few near-death scrapes, but it all comes right in the end and has a lot of fun getting there. The only thing that may trouble older readers is the way in which Peter Pan is portrayed. The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up is shown in a most unflattering light here, but it is all in good fun. The author truly appears to love the source material and manages to honor it while carving out her own unique voice and characters. Highly recommend.
