I had purchased an 8" round replacement air grill at Lowe's. I didn't really set out to but I was shopping for something else and just happened to be walking up the aisle these were located on. I saw it and decided to get it. I had been planning to remove the old one, sand it down and repaint it, which was going to be a lot of work considering the condition. I knew the duct size was 8" and overall it looked to be the correct size. I was disappointed to find that when I got it home the outside diameter was smaller (about 10-1/2"). Mine is 12", same as this one. So, I decided to try Amazon and sure enough I found this. Reading the reviews, which were overall good, several stated that they had purchased this for an older home. Mine was built in the late 1950's, so I thought, this is the one. I installed it yesterday and it is a perfect fit. It looks great too! Maybe because my old one looked so bad.
