ECOTRIC 2-Sided Assist was delivered on time with all the parts needed to install. I looked up a YouTube video for installation of a Gorilla lift. I didn't need the written instructions after viewing the video. Total install took about one and a half hours. I used a hammer drill to pilot the holes with a 1/8" bit then used a step bit in the hammer drill to finish to 1/2". Both center holes fell inside a removable side pocket stake. I could access one bolt but the other one was totally hidden. I just spot welded the carriage bolt head inside the tube and hot melted the washer on the nut before trying to start it using a socket on a 3" extension. I replaced the supplied metric bolts with 3/4" long 5/16" carriage bolts and used lock nuts. The lift worked well and my test with the "S" hooks (supplied) went well. I intent to try the test location for a few days before attaching the cable gate bolts. I like the lift at this point and would buy it again.

It was not as hard to install as some of the other reviews indicated. But, I have lots of tools and do a lot of stuff like this. It may not be a job some would want to tackle. I drilled 3/8 inch holes instead of 1/2 for the mounting. Be sure to have a really good drill bit for any of the drilling. It made my heavy trailer ramp easy to pick up. Other reviewers said the cable clamps did not hold, so I gave them a few blows with a hammer where they were crimped to hopefully make a better hold on the cable.

I’m really happy with this ECOTRIC lift assist system. I installed it on my utility trailer, and it instantly made raising and lowering the tailgate way easier and safer. No more straining or wrestling with a heavy ramp — it practically floats up and down now. The setup took a little time (measure twice, drill once!), but once installed, it’s rock solid. The assist works smoothly and makes a huge difference, especially if you’re dealing with a tall or heavy gate. I’ve got mine on a 6-foot ramp with about 18" side rails, and it fits great. You can tell it’s built to last — sturdy hardware, solid feel, and handles my steel gate without breaking a sweat. The 400 lb capacity gives me peace of mind too. If you're loading mowers, ATVs, or heavy gear on the regular, this is a must-have upgrade. I should’ve bought one years ago!

This product works great and is a good value for the money. You definitely need to upgrade to the aluminum rollers for the cable guide. After approximately one month of use, the plastic rollers wore out. Decoded cable has already come apart but probably due to the plastic roller failure. I would suggest purchasing the aluminum cable rollers on Amazon for $17 to go with it! Also, there's no adjustment for cable tension or at least nothing easy

Built well and works great no problems with it. Installation is easy.

Its hard to rate as this is a product you do not use everyday i have had mine installed for about 1 month now and it has already broken the clamps on the cable has pulled out on both side and on one side the rubber coating is coming off. I installed them completely as stated on the instructions so to say the least i am very disappointed. Yes i can buy new cables and replace them but i should not have to.

I chose to go a less expensive product and, simple as this tailgate assist is, I regret my decision. I followed the instructions and found that I needed my cable anchor point on my tailgate near the limit of the cable an spring length. I was able to get the passengers side mounted, then moved to the drivers side. before I could get the drivers side connected, the passenger side cable released at the tailgate bolt. Finished the install on the drivers side and went to the hardware store to get some cable clamps. I disassembled the passenger side, removed the factory cable clamp and put two cable clamps on just to make sure it wouldn't fail again. I put everything back together and was pulling on the cable to get the bolt to the hole in the tailgate and the cable clamp failed on the spring end! Drivers side was still working fine. Disassembled everything again and used one cable clamp on the spring as I was afraid two might drag when raising and lowering the tailgate. Fished everything back through the channel, reassembled everything and attached the bolt to the tailgate. So far it is holding (in the raised position). The unit does help with raising and lowering the ramp, but still requires some effort (not going to raise or lower with two fingers like the name brand claims). If the cable clamps would have held, I would have given it four stars. After putting holes in my trailer, I don't want to return the item and buy a different brand that may not match up the holes already drilled.

Been using these for the past couple of weeks and I will say that it’s a whole lot easier to lift the ramp. The product is made of decent quality that gives the best value over more expensive options.

Nice tailgate lift assist, instructions could be better. Easy install once you figure it out.

Really easy to install. Went from dreading lifting the metal ramp on my trailer to almost looking forward to it! Would recommend to others and buy again myself.

Powder coated but the inside was rusted and not powder coated... I peimmed the inside as well and then use the color to match the trailer.

Very low quality and not as described in the sales add.. then i was charged shipping to send it back..do not buy from this seller !
