Easy to install, fit and works
This fit my chair and was easy to install. The tip on the pull handle side of the cable is metal. My old cable was plastic. But, the metal tip works fine.

required modification
I was able to make this work only after two rather involved sessions in my workshop. There is an adjustment sleeve on one end but it would have to have been able to adjust by at least two and a half more inches. Another solution would be including in the kit a plate with a hook on one end and a series of holes for the cable hook to fit in at the right length. The cable was long enough (barely) but I was not able to extend the internal cable enough to reach the required pull point from the mechanism's mounting point. My fix was to remove two inches of the outer cable sleeve and reassemble the collar onto the shortened sleeve. This required two attempts using rotary tool cutter and several other hand tools. I managed to draw blood in both sessions and damaged the internal cable somewhat. Since the original failure was one end coming off (swag solder type termination) I figured the loss of two strands from the internal cable would not impair function. Long story short; my recliner works now. Injuries have healed. Most people would have to eat the cost as they would have to open the package and would never attempt the alteration I did. Manufacturer: Please include an adapter plate for greater range of fit.

Replacement cable resulted in easy and inexpensive fix
We were unable to use the recliner function of our chair for several years because the old cable had broken and I figured it would cost a lot to get it fixed. After going on line I was able to order a new cable and figure out how to replace it by looking at how the old cable had been installed. A couple brief tips from the internet helped too. The problem is a common one and others should not be intimidated by doing in yourself. The cable that came did not have any instructions or recommendations for the repair. That is something that the company should remedy. Fortunately it turned out to be much less than rocket science to figure out how it worked. Just pay attention to how the broken cable was configured before you remove it and put the new one in.

Cable doesn't work
Overall length was ok, but there is a hard plastic part a few inches down from the S-end and that should have been about 2 inches further down to fit into a metal slot on the chairs frame. It stabilizes the cable. Because of that, the chair would not recline, so I wrapped some wire around the cable and the frame and the chair now reclines, but not while you are sitting on it. You have to stand next to the chair, pull the handle and the footrest at the same time. I guess a key measurement is the distance between the S-end and the plastic flange, not the overall length. Thanks

Measure before you buy!!
Giving this 5 stars although I ordered the incorrect length. This ended up being too short to repair my recliner, but I ordered the longer 38 inch which should work fine. The length of the exposed wire, when pulled all the way out from the black cable, from the BOTTOM of the mech clip is only 3 5/8 inches. That means you don't have ANY exposed wire at the other end where it attaches to the pull handle mechanism. Before you order measure the distance from where the mech clip attaches to your furniture to where the s-shaped connecter attaches to the release mechanism. I would imagine it has to be VERY short to have enough wire at the other end to attach to the pull handle. I went through the Return Item process through Amazon and this seller agreed to accept my return with no issues. I received my response & return label to print out within 12 hours. I measured what length of wire I need (after I ordered this, I never claimed to be Mr. Fixit). The length of exposed wire I need from the BOTTOM of the mech clip to the bend in the s-shaped connector is 4 5/8 inches. At the other end that attaches to the pull handle, I need an inch of wire from the end of the black cable to the head of the barrel end. That adds up to 5 5/8 inches of exposed wire. The description for the 38 5/8 inch cable says there is 6 1/2 inches of exposed wire from the TOP of the mech clip to the bottom of the s-shaped connector. The mech clip is 3/4 inches long, so that would give me 5 3/4 inches, plus I only measured to the bend in the s-shaped connector, so this longer cable should be perfect! I love math!

Disappointed
The recliner cable had the needed 6 mm barrel; but it had two nuts and a metal shaft next to the barrel - which made the cable worthless.
