SSD's need to be connected to power before a certain interval of time, or data will be lost.  How long can this drive go without being plugged in?

In a nutshell, for this to happen, the drive first has to be worn down through prolonged heavy use, and then stored at extremely high temperature. Is the T3 password protection integral to the drive, like conventional hard drives, OR just pre-loaded software? (I returned a T1 due to this.) Tnx!

Hi,I can only speak of my experience with the T3 on OSX and the Apple iMac (late-2015).The drive works without installing any software. However, at least on OSX, you cannot get the full performance of the drive without installing the security bundle as it includes the drivers. Once the drivers are installed, the drive is absolutely phenomenal. Easily maintaining over 420MB/s read and write performance (tested using BlackMagic Speedtest).Additionally, you do not need to setup the security for the drive. It is completely optional. So although the software is on the iMac, I have not opened or used it, and thus the drive is not 'locked' in any way.TL:DR: software is not required to use or operate the drive, but drivers in the software are necessary for the drive to perform optimally. Drive can function without security software.
