These items do exactly what you would expect in finding stud work in the walls. Probably one of the most useful tools you could own.

I was initially looking for an electronic stud locator however, kept running into reviews saying they could be temperamental and incorrect; and when drilling into a wall, you preferably measure twice and cut once. On further research, I found most builders tend to just use a strong magnet for locating studs as they've found that the most effective. Therefore, I settled on this little unit. Essentially, each StudBuddy a plastic housing around two strong magnets. They do locate studs, and grip strongly to the wall when they find it. The one gripe I have with them, and why I knocked off one star, is that they don't have a soft-touch back to them and so, when you're hunting for a stud, you need to scrape a bare bit of plastic across your painted wall, which makes me wince every time. This could probably be remedied with cutting a thin piece of velvet to size and attaching it to the magnetic side, and I don't imagine it would impede their function too much. Word of warning, they come in a blister-pack, so have a large pair of heavy-duty scissors nearby.

Works great, better then a stud finder.

This item is amazing. Previously we used a stud finder to try to locate the studs in the wall and these proved to be terrible depending on the type of wall construction. This little beauty though was a godsend, it enabled us to find the studs and the direction of the studs with ease and we could safely put our tv bracket up on a new stud wall. They have a very strong magnet and I was surprised at the grip it had on the wall. If you have a stud wall, then grab yourself this item!

As long as you take it for what it is (a cheap way of finding screws or metal stud) then it’s fantastic,, really simple cheap and easy to use

Was dubious at first that these would work, but they are a great addition to the electrician's toolbox, to establish cable routings in walls and ceilings.

After trying multiple digital devices from the local hardware store (which either did not work or broke quickly), decided to try the old school way. These are just so much better! Would recommend to anyone trying to find studs in their drywall!
