32x32 is a massive improvement over the 16x16 displays
DISCLAIMER: I recieved this product for free to review, but I am remaining unbiased. Having owned several Divoom products before this, I expected it to be similar to their newer 16x16 displays, albeit being 4x as large as them. However, what I got exceeded these expectations in a few ways. 1. Car mode/mount one of the intended use cases for this is to mount it using the included pair of suction cups to the rear window of your vehicle, where once installed and configured will automatically turn on when the vehicle is started. While I don't find this feature very useful, you can use voice commands to display various icons and I can see the appeal for this use case. 2. increased resolution the 32x32 display allows for much greater resolution compared to the smaller variants, and the art currently available on the app is quite nice. The animations are very smooth, and the display itself is easily visible even in bright sunlight. it came with a bonus screen protector which was pre-installed. i had no issue connecting the unit to the app and it worked just as well as the rest of their products have in the past. 3. USB-c As with the Ditoo, this has USB c for charging now. this is a vast improvement over the Micro USB used on the timebox series, as it is a more durable connector in addition to being invertible, and supporting faster modes of charging, though I don't believe divoom has taken advantage of this, which for me is perfectly fine since this is likely going to spend 90% of the time plugged in recommendations for improvement however, that isn't to say its all perfect. I noticed a few nitpicky things about the app, and I'd like some improvements to be made. 1. not all of the clocks are customizable the variety of clock faces you get on this is much greater than on past devices. you also get the option to have all the time, date, temperature, and weather displaying at once, however on those displays you have no color customization, which wouldn't be very difficult to add, but is a very nice thing to have, as the default colors are very bright and some might want a single color or more subdued colors. the same goes for the "3d" clock face, it is set to blue and you cannot change this. this isn't a new thing either, it is the same for many of the clock faces on previous units, you can change part of it but the rest remains unchanged 2. when selecting animations in the app, it displays them before finishing downloading them, so for the first few seconds of the animation it will loop awkwardly before it can finish downloading why this happens, I'm not certain. the app has a separate button for doing this & I think it should do it by default, but its not a huge issue. 3. the customizeable display section in the app that allows you to choose several animations/art to display in a loop doesn't allow you to loop the animations a certain number of times, and the only work around is to add the animations multiple times, which in term means you can't have as many. once again, easily fixable in the app. Overall, this is a very nice device for pixel art displaying, and it functions well. I think divoom is heading in the right direction, and if they can make the mentioned changes I will be even happier with this.

vibrant pixel display
The Divoom Pixoo-Max Pixel Display is a fantastic and creative device that combines art and technology in a fun way. The vibrant pixel display is visually stunning, with rich colors that bring any design or animation to life. It’s perfect for showcasing custom pixel art, notifications, or even as a digital clock. Setting up the Pixoo-Max was a breeze. The companion app is user-friendly and allows for easy customization of designs and animations. I love the ability to upload my own artwork or choose from a wide range of pre-made designs. The built-in speaker adds another layer of functionality, enabling sound effects and music playback that enhance the overall experience. The build quality is excellent, with a sturdy frame that feels durable. The size is just right for a desk or shelf display, making it an eye-catching conversation starter. Battery life is impressive as well, allowing for extended use without constant recharging. Overall, the Divoom Pixoo-Max Pixel Display is a delightful blend of creativity and tech, perfect for anyone looking to add a unique touch to their space. I highly recommend it!

Super cool, but with some annoying quirks
So overall this is a cool little device. Looks great, can get very bright, and the Divoom library of pixel art to display is huge. However, from a usability standpoint there is plenty of room for improvement. The app is OK but a little clunky and adding pixart to your 3 "channels" is less intuitive and more time consuming than it needs to be. But the most frustrating thing about this device by far is that the brightness keeps resetting itself! Every hour or so it returns to full brightness (which is CRAZY bright) and while I've found a few forum threads complaining about this there doesn't seem to be a solution. So having to manually reset this multiple times a day definitely knocks off a star.

My first Divoom, but not my last!
Is this something you NEED? No. But!! It's such a great addition to a Game Room or even a gamer's desk, it's worth the price. Not only can you make your own designs (animated up to 100 frames!!), but you also have access to a huge community that makes designs for the different units. I had several pages of designs saved to my favorites in the first day and it's as easy as selecting the next image to change it up. It's bright and clear, easy to see across the room. No matter your fandom, you're sure to find something you like. And if not, you can always make it yourself! You can also import Gif files to make images, but I have had very mixed results with that. I am still happy with this one and I have already added the 64x64 version to my Christmas Wish List!

DIY programmable totem
So for anyone wondering like I was, the screen has 2 thread holes: one on the top and one on the bottom to attach the suction cups and an *M4* screw fits in the hole. Most camera mounting equipment is 1/2” screws. I haven’t taken it to a festival yet but this is one of the totems I’m making for my group. I mounted the screen onto a monopod

It's cool - really cool - but you better have internet access if you want to use the app!
I wanted to put together a pixel art totem for music festivals, and went as far as buying an Arduino, LED array, etc. - and then I stumbled across this thing and immediately bought it. It served almost all of my needs, but there are a couple of major items that drop this from a 5 star product to 3 stars. Overall, my first event with it was a success (a lot of compliments) and I will be using it again. Depending on pricing and software, I might consider linking 4 of these together for a 64x64 set-up. At the time of this review, this did not seem to be an option. First, the good: * All in one package for your pixel art needs * Battery life is AT LEAST 4-5 hours. I haven't used it enough to fully drain the battery * Great build quality - it's a little hefty and doesn't feel cheap at all * The app made it relatively easy to program my own channels, create my own pixel art, etc. * Bright enough to get the attention I wanted at dusk and night * The Pixel Community is really neat for finding pixel art * Long cable included, has wall mount holes, a "foot" for desk placement, and my model came with suction cups for mounting (very thoughtful) The neutral (no stars removed - just opinion): * I was hoping to mount it to a camera tripod (1/4 or 3/8) but the mounts use a different size. I got creative and was able to mount it to a camera pole with a screw I had laying around that just happened to fit, but it's a little sketchy. I posted a question on this page asking for the screw size, and the response was "the digital frame don't need screw for it". That wasn't my question. I'll update this review in the future once I figure out the proper screw measurements. * A little washed out/hard to see in bright daylight - but this is to be expected * No API/SDK/Programmatic access at this time. If Divoom opens this up, I bet it will sell like crazy. * The USB C charging port is challenging to get to and deep within a recessed cavity. I really appreciate the very long cable that came with it, however for "field" use I needed to use my own cable. The nice thing about the placement is that the USB C port is very much protected from getting bent/damaged (major pro) BUT, if your USB C connector is barely any wider than the slot itself, you won't be able to use it. The bad: * The screen is made of very easily scratched plastic. Honestly I wish I had somehow protected it because after a couple of days at a festival, bouncing it around in a backpack, etc, I ended up with a ton of microscratches that are very visible under some conditions - basically indoors at an angle (see photos). It doesn't hurt the screen's performance but it's a bit unsightly up close. * I went to a remote music festival with limited cellular signal. I could not launch the app without internet. This is a major issue because when I wanted to change some settings/create new pixel art/update my channels, I had to locate a bar of signal just to get in to the app. Note: Once you're IN the app, the functions that don't rely on internet work just fine if you lose signal. Divoom REALLY needs to let the app work in "offline" mode for situations where you don't have internet access but need to make some updates to the device. -1.5 Stars * Although you can program "channels" (a list of pixel art to rotate through), you can't define how long it stays on each art. It seems to go through about 1 cycle, and then moves on to the next. It'd be really nice if you could set a delay between rotations. Speaking of channels, it'd be nice if you could also tell it to automatically switch between channels - so it rotates through 36 animations on its own. -.25 Stars * On occasion, pixel art animations get "mixed". It's hard to describe, but basically two different animations will flip back and forth between each other. In some cases it makes for a neat effect, but given that it's really a bug that can mess up your planned animations, I'm deducting another .25 Stars. Overall, it's a really neat device. If you don't care about SDK access or offline functionality, I recommend it for your project. It saved me many hours of building my own device/software, so it was well worth the expense. I could see myself purchasing more of their products but only if they allow offline functionality.

Awesome, vibrant and fun! Amazing for techy homes!
I have always been curious about these Divoom light panels and decided to try one out......and to say I was blown away is an understatement!! These panels are incredible!!! They are so simple but add such a dynamic and vibrant bit of life in any room, simple to use and with thousands upon thousands of designs premade for you to use. All connected via Bluetooth, it's easy to set up and sync images you like as well as make your own with the app itself, including animations! Also, it was great to see the display had a long lasting battery and used USB C to charge (it's good to see them being used!) It's a very small form factor and super thing for how long it lasts on one charge and the brightness it gives. It has a nifty little kick stand which makes it great for the desk or you can hang it up using the photo hook on the back like I'm planning to. It also comes with sticky cups to attach to glass or smooth surfaces.....even your car! I'm tempted to get another few panels down the line as you can sync them all up to play a bigger image which is pretty cool! Overall, the battery last a long time, the LEDs are super bright and the app brilliantly ties it all together to make an awesome looking talking point anywhere you put it. I would definitely recommend this for someone who loves tech or wants to geek out on retro pixel art! I love it!!!!
