One of the Best Aged Basmati Rices on the Market
This rice has a wonderful, unmatched nutty taste. And no matter what quantity you're making, the recipe I've always used makes perfect, never-fail rice every single time. Don't rinse it. Use a pot big enough to hold four times the amount of rice you're making. Use 1 part rice to 2 parts water. Add enough salt for the amount of rice you're making. Same with butter. (1 pat of butter to 1 cup rice is a good rule of thumb.) Bring water to a boil (this will vary with the amount of rice you're making); leave the pot uncovered. As soon as the water comes to a boil, put a lid on the pot and turn the temp to a low simmer. Set the timer for 12 minutes. It doesn't matter how much rice you're making, the time is always 12 minutes on simmer. Turn off the fire, uncover the pot, fluff the rice. It's perfect every time.

Great basmati rice
I’ve been buying zebra brand for years and it was so nice to be able to conveniently purchase this on Amazon as I’m doing social distancing and do not want to drive far to an international market to get this. The best way to cook this is to soak it in water for at least a minimum of 30 minutes. You have to do this as it is an aged rice. Drain it when ready. Boil it in salty water to al dente (just before it gets soft). Drain it. Put it back in your oven safe rice pot (I used a Staub La Cocotte). Add a few tablespoons of oil, some salt to taste (I also add ground or whole cumin, hence the brown specks in photo). Toss it gently, cover it with lid and bake for 20 minutes at a 400 degree preheated oven. Then drop to 200 degrees for 15-20 more minutes. Tasty, not sticky and lasts in my fridge for a few days of leftovers. Enjoy!

Ever seen such beautiful rice?
When I cooked this rice, it was so beautiful! It's long and slender, dainty looking. I usually make Persian rice with layers of beans and wild dill weed smothered in olive & avocado oils. It was gorgeous, but the aromatic flavor was the best. It took me a while to figure out that the Basmati rice in the supermarket is short and not cute. This was fabulous indeed. I'll recommend it to anyone. I'm sure you'll love it too.

C'mon the Zebra bag is cool
And the basmati rice is reasonably priced and of good grain and flavor. Extra long ? Maybe 'medium' long. If you truly want extra long grains, you gotta buy the 1121 basmati rice. This variety of basmati rice was developed by Padma Shri awardee Dr Vijaipal Singh at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, released in about 2008, it's become very popular and holds the record as the variety with the most elongated rice grain. Seek out the 1121 if you want the longest rice. This is an acceptable medium grain with good flavor profile rice.

BEST BASMATI RICE
Great flavor, pleasant smell. Cooks up perfect if you remove it from water when almost ready and stick in freezer for a bit stirring every few minutes. Firm and fluffy at same time. Easy to make just boil your water and add rice and any spices you might want if you didn’t put too much water in it.

Amazing rice but Over priced on amazon
The bag states it $16.99 which you would find at any Pakistani or Indian store, but on Amazon it’s $12 more. The rice it self is top tier that is great for Any rice dish from biryani to Daal chaval to kheer

good rice
I longed for the basmati rice that came in the burlap bag, but was recommended this brand. I was left somewhat dissapointed but its still good rice. I hear its on the lower glycemic index than other rice.
