Great box for a great price!
Great direct box for the best price I've seen. Works well... the sound guy at church said it not only gave a stronger signal than my setup had been providing, but it also fixed an annoying hum that he couldn't isolate before (using the church's direct boxes). The only recommendation: with the ground lift button (it's a button, not a switch), maybe either add the word "lift" or switch your on/off indications. Since it's a lift, technically (as printed in the instructions), when it's engaged ("On"), the GROUND is disengaged or off (lifted). Right now, when you look at it, it reads that the GROUND is ON or OFF. For those who work with tech all the time, they probably understand the difference, but others might not. Regardless, once you figure out the right position, it works great.

Good product if used right
I bought this to eliminate low cycle hum in a recently purchased guitar. Best way to use it it to input I instrument in 1/4 jack and output through DI XLR output. Got the best results this way. Ultimately I decided to return the guitar and thus box as a result though I do recommend for DI use.

Good value passive DI.
My other DI box is the Behringer DI400P. That cost slightly more with a better build and finish. However the Pyle has a 3 way attenuation switch.

Seems to work ok. Used to be a real bargain price.
It's a passive DI Box. Not rocket science. It's a passive transformer in a can, essentially. However, the first time I used it specifically for BASS, it seemed to filter a lot of low frequencies out. However, I tried it again today and it seemed to have better low response, so it may have been something on the mixer last time that I didn't realize or something about the way I routed signal to it. I used one of these a friend had at a gig to take an unbalanced signal off a pre-amp and run it to a mixer and it worked fine for guitar. So I bought a couple of them for the gear bag. I haven't really used them but I haven't been gigging as much and when I do, my bass amp has a direct out built into the amp. But now I'm looking at an ampless bass solution and this may end up being part of that. TBD. Overall I guess i'd say 4 stars. I might upgrade it later if it works out ok for bass. I wish the manufacturer included a specification on the frequency response of this box so I could know what it was engineered to do in terms of frequency and compare it to other units in the marketplace. But that probably is why they don't include it. For instance, the Radial Engineering box goes down to 20 Hz. But it also costs 10X what this does. If you're playing regularly and need the DI box, the Radial is probably the way to go. But for covering a "pinch" where the venue or soundman doesn't have a DI, or you're running your own sound and need one for something, this is a great bargain price on one that might get you through a gig. So for $12, tossing one in your gig bag of "emergency gig tools" makes a lot of sense. Maybe just to help out some bandmate who turned up and needs a DI and doesn't have it. It happens. Update, I dropped my ranking 1 star on value because they doubled the price from 2023 to 2025. I paid $12, now it's $25.
