I do not use the static shock or beeping options, just the vibration.Jack is about 55 lbs.I allow my dogs to bark at things ... because they are dogs. But Jack was barking non-stop at a new neighbor. He listened to the "quiet" command for the most part, but not with the neighbor outside.The vibrate option works very well. There are 16 levels of vibration. I use it at level 6.The sound setting is supposed to be used to reward but it scared him for some reason so I never use it. I don't want my "tough guy" dog afraid of any thing that beeps.I did try the static shock on myself. It was surprisingly mild at a low setting. However I do not use that option. I suppose the static shock may be an acceptable way to train but it could be used the wrong way.Charging is easy as you can plug the collar and remote in at the same time. The charge seems to last a long time though we only have it on a couple of hours a day.I recommend this collar and haven't been paid to say it. If you read the directions and use it right you won't hurt your dog. After a full charge I decided to try it on myself so I'd know what my dog was feeling. My thoughts as I was testing it: Level 1 - "not bad". Level 2 - "felt that". Level 3 - "okay that's uncomfortable, don't want to do that again". On level 2, the shock was enough to get my 40 pound, 6 month old pit bull's attention. On level 8, she yelped. So there's a good range to find what works on your dog.I bought this specifically to train her to stay away from the road (I live in the country). The instructions say that you aren't supposed to set it high enough to make them yelp. I made an exception. She hasn't been near the road since. She is very smart & very hard headed/stubborn.She listens good, on a leash; however, knows when she's not (on a leash) I didn't have the ability to correct her and she took advantage of that (especially hiking in the Pa woods) she would run around like a wild woman, chase deer/squirrel/rabbits and if a bike rider went by on a trail, she'd chase them too...I'm on track to training her to be Search And Rescue (SAR) as I'm a Pre Hospital RN (PHRN) and hoping to become a wilderness nurse/ SAR team. This collar has set her up for success and given me confidence that we can become the team I dream of. This is my first e-collar. I've had dogs all my life, and was adverse to "shock collars" . I did a lot of research on e-collars and training techniques with them. The Lobo Commander is everything we hoped for. It's waterproof, easy to use, 3modes with adjustable settings for each mode, the collar receiver isn't huge, as SAR she needs all these. The transmitter clips onto my belt and the range is good. And the collar is affordable, good quality, rechargeable eliminates the need for batteries. I found other collars with a range of 1 mile and twice the cost of the Lobo Commander, without as many of the other features.Jannali "Nali" has responded so well to her training, we work everyday and look forward to helping others after our skills are developed.As a ER RN and concerned "mom" Nali's safety is a consideration, the Lobo Commander delivers!
