Winco Grill Surface Thermometer, 2-1/4" Dial

Arrived on time. Quality is as described. Temperature seems to be accurate. It really helped with the cooking process on the grill.

It's a nice peice to have on the griddle. Seems heavy duty enough. Tested it in the oven at 500 degrees and it was spot on, but the heat faded the dial to orange. The needs still bright red, so that will make it easier to distinguish differences... glad I bought it! 6/7/2020 ... Additional Comments. After using it for cooking on a camping trip, it is a little laggy in reporting the correct temperature. It is accurate enough, if you wait enough time. It does not respond very quickly.

Nice to know the temperature on our Blackstone. Use it several times a week! Works great.

This thing is junk. It runs really slow, doesn't come near the temp my professional hvac contactless thermometer reads (like as much as 200f low), fogged and smoked after a couple uses so I put it on my wood stove and it just went downhill to where you can barely read the temp. Wish I would've used it back when I bought it so I could return the garbage.

I ordered 3 of these and I use them on my smoker routinely. They work great. It is nice to know what temperature the food is right on the surface where the food is located verses knowing the overall temp of the cooker. Great product for the price!

Used for a wood stove monitor, and the paint turned brown and the glass fogged in a few days. Temperatures were not very high using other monitors, but this performed poorly. It was not a grill, so it got a lot of continuous usage rather than short cooking times, but I was disapponinted.

I originally bought this thermometer, because I have a Maverick instant-read infrared surface thermometer that doesn't work on shiny surfaces (stainless steel pans, griddle covered with foil, etc.). And, I wanted a device that would accurately tell me what the temperature of my pan surface is before I start cooking. This thing is fairly accurate (within a few degrees of what my infrared thermometer reads on a dark pan). But, it takes about 20 minutes for it to come up to the correct temperature. And, if I'm going to fry some eggs or something in my stainless steel skillet, I don't want to wait 20 minutes to find out what the surface temperature is, and then spend more time adjusting the heat to get the temperature correct (not too cool to where nothing cooks, not too hot to where everything burns). Also, I have an electric stove (cooked on gas for the past 30 years). So, I'm having to relearn what setting to put a burner on to get the correct heat level to cook various things. This thermometer is helpful for that, in that I can note how hot a pan gets at a certain burner setting, log those readings, and know what temperature I get for a particular setting. If you have a half hour or so to wait for the temperature reading to be accurate, this unit is for you. But if not, you'll find this thing to be pretty much useless.

I use this both for my charcoal BBQ and our stovetop grill. The temperature readings seem accurate –>once they come up to temp.<– That is, the heat from the grill takes a while to show on the dial. Don't be in a big rush and this should work fine for its purpose.

I bought this to plop down on my Camp Chef Expedition 3 Griddle (16" x 24" #SG90), Just to be able to better gauge the surface temperature. Well several batches of pancakes, fried rice, burgers and other assorted camp food later, I am pleased to say I love it. I read several reviews from similar items that said they fogged up or were inaccurate, but I found this one never did. It is sealed all around (I wouldn't immerse it though), and I found the quality great. It has a large easy to read dial and all in all I found it an excellent value. Be warned however, that this item does not ship from Amazon and if you think you are getting free shipping, you might want confirmation first from the seller as I wound up paying over 8 bucks for shipping when it was suppose to be included in with other items for free shipping and it took almost a month to get here. But having said that, It is still a great unit.

I used this only 2 times. Initially it was good, temperature was accurate. However my 3rd time using it, took a while for the needle to move. After taping it with a spatula the needle jumped to a higher reading, then stayed there. I would have given a lower rating but because amazon has amazing customer service, they replaced it no questions. My new one should be arriving, hopefully it’s not defective like the last one I had.

Works exactly as I hoped

After only 2 uses, the thermometer was charred black on the inside of the glass making the thermometer unreadable. I returned the item as it was not useable.
