This compass will give you a rough idea of direction and bearings, but it's not suitable for serious, accurate map reading. I bought this to help me explain angles and bearings to GCSE maths students. Whilst it might be good enough for orienteering, map reading, etc., it's not really suitable for my purposes. The problem is that the bearing is indicated as being between 2 parallel lines. I need one with a single, central line. I need to buy another one. I'll give this to a young grandkid and buy them a proper one as they grow and start to need accuracy..

Good item, it enables you to get a good and true signal from wherever is the best - that is when you set up your TV aerial in your caravan, your boat or any other vehicle. Enjoy the break with a good quality picture.

As a landscaper working the green patches of Hampshire, I’ve tangled with plenty of trees, but getting them staked in the right direction was always a bit of a gamble. To address the precise matter of tree staking, I recently acquired the Skylety Navigation Compass - an investment I deemed essential given the blustery southwestern gales. Before this handy gadget, my staking methodology relied upon mere intuition. Now, I pull out the Skylety and instantly know my South West from my North East! Furthermore, I am pleased to report that I have not once lost my bearings whilst traversing the treacherous terrain from worksite to wheelbarrow. Solid 10/10—my trees get staked in the right direction, I can navigate back to the van, and I look like I know what I’m doing!

It's ok, mostly points North - oddly shifts when you twist the dial, which is also very loose and too easy to turn if you want to check your bearing later on. Only kept it as was needed for immediate use.

Good compass. Does what we need it to do. When first opened it the needle was slow to respond, but after moving it around the needle seemed to free up and not had a issue since.

Despite some negative reviews I read about accuracy, I still went ahead and purchased this compass as it looked to be good value. My BIG mistake!! The compass needle struggles to find North and moves around if the bezel is turned. Not good and a waste of a purchase. How Amazon can flag this item as "Amazon's Choice" beats me! I now need to do the right thing and spend more on decent brand instead of looking for a cheap alternative that isn't up to the job.

Haven't had time to use it yet but looks like it will do the trick. Although plastic seems sturdy.

This arrived at the start of this week and I have tried it in a number of places (including standing in the middle of a field away from all structures). It does not point to North and if I give it a shake, it points in a different direction. I compared it with digital compasses and they don't agree...Going to be sending it back. Very disappointed. Don't buy it!!
