Toroid Core FT240-31 Ferrite: desertcart.com: Industrial & Scientific Review: Great performing toroids for HF common mode chokes! - Very high quality toroids that were used to assemble 1:1 common mode chokes. Everything tested exactly where they should have and they perform great! Review: Great Product, Great Service, and even in an imperfect environment, Greater Reliability. - The folks at FW Electronics are great. This was a product I needed and wanted. I ordered it and the product arrived quickly and painlessly. Nearly all the way good. I opened the packaging and noticed a discrepancy between what I ordered and what I received. Quickly a mistake was realized and communicated to FW-Electronics. Of course, these discrepancies can cause problems if you aren't careful. FW-Electronics sent a replacement just as quickly and without additional cost to me. For most everyone, these are the critical details. Product sold, good product, fast turnaround, etc. All of those things I report about FW - Electronics. Here's the important part of the review: This company made a mistake, initially. These things happen and nobody was upset. Understanding that toroid core mixes are very specific for use in amateur radio applications (as in other applications). So there's a confidence concern in my case when I lack the test equipment to identify the different mixes. FW - Electronics helped me visually identify the core types and sent the correct (though properly labeled) toroid cores without cost to me, and let me keep the incorrect toroids (which I still will readily put to good use at my QTH or to a deserving ham learning to use RF chokes). My point in this detail is I appreciate great products and great service. But I appreciate it so much more when things *don't* go well and the company and staff make it right. Nobody's perfect, but making it perfect when it isn't shows me the company appreciates the customers' work product and respects their own. I'll keep coming back to FW! 73 DE K6RCS

Just right for a DIY HF Common Mode Choke!!
Just the right size and material mix for my HF common mode choke build. I used a 10' RG-8X jumper and was able to comfortably get 8 good sized turns/loops through a pair of these Toroid Cores.

These things are miracle workers...
We'll I am so amazed with this device I don't know where to start. I bought this after reading and trying just about everything possible to eliminate RFI generated from (3) 12 volts 40 amp switching power strips. I had tried different grounding sanarios, some of which helped slightly but not near enough to solve the problem, also tried noise suppressor/eliminator filters which did nothing. Also added some ceramic capacitors in various locations which also helped slightly then I found these. I had read about these and the various mix types, so I had to figure out if my noise issue was the type that the 31 mix would help with. After reading ALLOT I decided to give this a try and boy am I glad I did. Each power strip had one 10 gage 12 volt output ground wire so I looped each wire 1 turn through this device and reconnected it and vola that was the end of the noise. Now one thing you must keep in mind for this to work, you must match the correct ferrite mix to the MHz or bandwidth where you are experiencing the problem, if you get this right these things work miracles. This review comes from a guy who had all but given up on ever totally eliminating this problem, then this little $10.00 device came along and made a believer of me,,,,THANK YOU,,,,THANK YOU,,,,THANK YOU.

A really great price for a toroid that is perfect for HF ham radio feedlines
I have purchased several FT-240-31 toroids in the past and always paid a little more. Looking at other reviews it seems, like me, people find these very useful and of good quality but thought they were a bit pricey. In my opinion, however, this seller removed any reason not to give five stars by lowering their price (below what I paid even three years ago). If you are a radio operator & use flexible coaxial cable, like RG-8X or RG-58, to feed your antennas then you are going to love these! Just pass the antenna connector (ex. PL-259) and at least 2' of cable up through the middle of the toroid and use a vinyl cable tie to secure the toroid to the cable so it can't slide. Then, repeat the process of passing the connector/plug up through the center nine more times, winding counter clockwise until you have ten tight loops around the donut. Finally just secure the cable to the toroid body as it exits the 10th time with another cable tie and "Voila", you now have an choke that will keep stray RF energy from using your feedline to interfere with your station equipment and cause noise. Just FYI the "240" describes the size of the donut and you need one this big to work with coaxial cable the size of RG-8X with PL-259 connectors, and the 31 mix is perfect for use with all the HF bands up to 30 MHz.

buy extra's to be safe if possible, but they do work!
i ordered 5 of them because i seen other reviews of how some came broken, as expected 1 out of my 5 was broken, thankfully only 1, they need to up their packaging, HOWEVER the ones that was not broke do make a difference

Interference gone
Took care of all my issues I was having with my usb cord on FT8. Great product

Works well for common mode chokes
While I can't tell whether it's a genuine Fair-Rite ferrite ring or not, it does a good job of choking common mode current on 10m, 15m, and 20m, from what I have seen so far. The price is fair as well.
