Great affordable main cold water shutoff box
I had a plumber install a main water line from the city water meter to under my rental house crawl space. I needed a shutoff valve so I don’t have to call the city to come turn it off and on. With this box I can now turn off my water and back on whenever I needed. I don’t know how this house went for 76 years on galvanize pipe without a manual shutoff because if there’s a leak or a pipe explode, your screwed. This box was the right size and follows city code for how deep the pipe should be. You just need a flat head screw driver or something to pop off the cover. It does allow rain water to get in so perhaps cover this with a tarp and put small dirt or gravel rocks over it?

It's a box, that goes in the ground.
Good durable plastic and it's constructed rather well. Lid fits nice and tight and will take at least 220Lbs stomping it into dirt. What more could you ask of a box that goes in the ground?

It’s the same kind of box you can get at the big home supply chains, but at a much better price. It works well, and has maintained its shape in the hole I installed it in for months without issue. Highly recommend.

This didn't come with the overlapping lid like in the picture and has a big hole for debris and rodents to get into. I am sure over time dirt or rocks will work its way in those edges and make the lid hard to remove. Update: 1month later the rodents have made the opening bigger no issues ony other valve boxes just this one with the big hole to begin with
