The fitter needs to be between 5 and 7 inches.Will this work even though intended to be on an outside post?** A: You need to use the appropriate size fitter. The ones I used on the ceiling had a neck on them which 3 screws in the fitter tightened against the neck . These should work well outside but you need the style fitter intended for them. **Q: I need a light cover that has a 5" fitter neck. needs to be long enough to cover a standard light bulb. any suggestions from kastlite??** A: We bought the 3.91” fitter neck and they worked with a standard light bulb. **Q: Could I use a Dremel and make a spaceball helmet with this? Scale too?** A: Yes. It worked nearly perfectly for a spaceballs helmet. Trace a template and cut slowly. I sprayed mine with white flex seal to get a softer whiter texture. Be careful not to stretch it to get it over your head as it is somewhat brittle. **Q: is it possible to drill holes along the bottom edge? My globes are attached to a clay bowl with small wires.. not on a post. they have holes now.** A: It would be very simple to drill holes this acrylic globe. You could eveen thread the holes I would imagine.
