Question 1

Can you stop the water flow and have the machine suck everything out, or are you still left with some solution in your sinuses afterwards?

Accepted Answer

I purchased both the Navage & the Sinuplus as well. I am not as impressed with the Navage as I am with the Sinuplus. At first it was because you cannot use the Navage unless you use a new saline pod each time you use it, but after using the Sinuplus I think it does a better job and you can use your own saline solution. Now I just leave my last used pod in the Navage and use the unit to suck out excess water left in my sinuses. Big problem I see is if I ever run out of pods and open the top my Navage is usuless. To answer your question I guess you could stop the process before all the solution is used up and depress the on button and the vacuum would probably work. If I could only have one of what I have, I would choose the Sinuplus before the Navage. My Sinuplus has totally stopped my post nasal drip. I use it daily and would hate to be without it.

Question 2

Do you have to buy distilled water to use this product like with some of the others?

Accepted Answer

You have to make sure your water is safe so you should boil or use distilled water with all nasal wash products. I just don't like the whole late night infomercial pitch on the Navage. They advertise the product on their site for 59.95 but when you click to purchase it ads the required salt pod for another 15.00 so it's really 75.00. I want to be able to use whatever solution I want and not be locked into their expensive salt pod when there are many other solutions that are much better. The whole thing looks like a marketing campaign and they only offer a one year warranty. Other products offer multi year warranties and have more honest reviews. Question 3

Can I switch which nostril is incoming flow and which is outgoing flow? Didn't want to say "pick", ha ha.

Accepted Answer

Yes! The direction of flow is completely adjustable: left to right, or right to left. The nasal dock can be rotated 180 degrees in either direction. In fact, you can even change direction in the middle of an irrigation cycle. In other words, half-way through (after having used about 4 ounces) you can stop, rotate the nasal dock 180 degrees, and finish your irrigation cycle in the opposite direction. Also, please note that due to the nature of the coaxial nasal dock valve, the CLEAN (supply) saline is always CLEAN, and the dirty (effluent) saline is always dirty.

Question 4

Can you use your own salt solution or must you use the expensive SaltPod with this unit?

Accepted Answer

This response is from RhinoSystems, the manufacturer of Naväge Nasal Care.

Great question! The Naväge Nose Cleaner and Naväge SaltPods work together as a complete nasal hygiene system, and a genuine, new SaltPod is needed for each irrigation cycle. Naväge is designed for safety, effectiveness, purity, convenience, and affordability:
Safety and Effectiveness: Having a correctly formulated nose rinse is the key to a great irrigation experience. Sensitive tissue lines the inside of the nose and exposing it to water that doesn’t have just the right amount of salt can cause painful burning and even injury. That’s the beauty of the Naväge SaltPod! Because it is precisely formulated, there’s no burning and stinging, just the refreshing experience that comes with moisturizing and flushing the nasal passages.

Purity: Naväge SaltPod capsules contain two ingredients: salt and water. There are no drugs. The salt is pharmaceutical grade, containing 99.99% sodium chloride with zero additives and fillers. (For comparison, table salt is about 98% sodium chloride and 2% additives, including iodine, sodium aluminosilicate, magnesium carbonate and other impurities.) The water is purified with carbon filtration, double deionization, ultra-violet (UV) sterilization, and a sub-micron finishing filter. The result is super-pure H2O.

Convenience: The SaltPod capsule contains saline concentrate – not salt crystals – and it mixes instantly. So there’s no more measuring; no more salt spills; no more mess. Just pop in a SaltPod and Naväge does the rest!

Affordability: SaltPod capsules cost less than 33 cents each when purchased with a quantity discount. One-a-day use amounts to less than $10 per month for an easy to use, drug-free approach to improved nose-breathing and superior nasal health.
