I have some masterwon 2 pin 8mm led strip connectors. can i use these to connect the strip?

This 10M LED strip is 2 pin 10mm, so the answer is no.

Why would they keep turning off when switched on at the mains? if i switch off/on at mains they work for a while

I was very pleased when I first installed these LEDs but, after a while, they became unreliable. I think the problem lies in degrading contacts: I find that if I touch the dodgy areas the lights will work for a while. I'm not too impressed though and won't buy this make again.

Ours have started to flicker.. but have been using our ones for over a year now!

Can i wire direct to mains switch

No. The transformer is adapted into a 13amp plug therefore it requires a 13amp socket. I have connected 13amp sockets to lighting circuits for the dedicated use of these adapters where the socket is in such a position it couldn’t be used for anything else. The alternative would be an led strip and separate led driver.
