Hayward SPX0710X32 Side Mount Valve Replacement for Hayward Pool Sand Filter

Works as intended. But leaked to the waste. Luckily I have a valve on the waste side because of previous valve leaking issues. The valve comes on the neutral position (between settings) so I surmise that the valve plate and the seal surfaces have to adapt to one another Is OEM hayward so its not as if it is a Billy Bob replacement. Check you chlorinator and be sure to prevent a contamination of chlorine to this valve. It will eat the spider gasket out in no time... go easy on the fitting tightness and remember its plastic Teflon Tape ONLY!!!... in my opinion.

It was very easy to install. No problems once I hooked it up. Handle turns way easier than the one I replaced.

Life saver here. Have an in ground pool with a sand filter. My valve was about 14 years old, it cracked at a fitting opening. I went to the people who put my pool in, and they gave me the new model that supposedly replaced this one, but it kept leaking, and it did not have the two connectors attached that go to the filter, so we needed more pieces, more fittings, just did not feel as sturdy when it was all connected. Searched on line, found this exact replacement valve. Looks identical to the original. Fit perfect, no leaks, and best of all it was about $40 less than what the newer version that leaked cost.

Easy to install and fit perfectly but like some others this developed hairline cracks at the inlet and leaked. I thought I had just received a bad unit so Amazon sent a replacement vlve. I installed it yesterday afternoon, tightened the fittings hand tight and worked well with no leaks. Today when the pump kicked in I went out and checked for leaks and , again, on the iunderneath side of the inlet fitting there is a drip that seems to be on the seam for the mold mark. The first one started with a small drip and developed into a series of hairline cracks over the next few days until I think it was ready for a full blown blow out. I have no idea what is wrong with these filters. We hav d had a pool for 25 years and I have replaced the valve at least twice with no problems. Neither of these were overtightened and I used a union that allowed me to hand tighten until the leak stopped. The only reason I ordered had the first one replaced is that I have never had a problem with the new valves and because of the fit to the sand filter. I am now at my wits end on what to do as 2 bad valves out of 2 is not a good track record.

Works like a champ! Followed all the suggestions listed here in the reviews and didn't over tighten. Took an hour to install it because we didn't know what we were doing. It's been in and working for about 2 weeks with no problems. Saved a lot of $$$ by buying it here and installing it ourselves.
