Good value and worked perfectly in a PC that had the built-in port get damaged.
Built in port on PC took an electrical storm hit and damaged it so that it would not connect. Used this one to replace it. worked perfectly. It also came with both full and 1/2 height mount bar to make it easy to fit in the SFF PC.

PCI Card Great To Keep OLD PC's Connected! Works Perfectly, Easy Installation, Reliable Brand
I got this PCI Gigabit original PCI Ethernet card for a client when their PC's internal LAN connection died from the side effects of a lightning strike. Yikes!! This PC is running dedicated local software that forces it to stay on Windows XP (again Yikes!). It is so old it only has old original PCI slots. It accesses printers over the internal network but it's kept off the internet (thank you firewall appliance!). The point is there are times when you need to keep OLD computers running that make sense and this was one of those. This PCI Ethernet interface is one of few PCI cards I could find. It makes a difference it is Startech brand as their products have consistently delivered a good experience in my own and my client's use. Being confident I won't have to make a follow-up on-site for problems helps with my brand loyalty here. The installation was very simple in the client's Dell Optiplex 960 mini-tower. It's nice there is a low-profile option. NOTE: the directions indicate you should install the drivers BEFORE installing the card. This matters and should be done in this order. Newer OS's may have built-in drivers but XP did not for the Realtek chipset. At just $10.99 (as of this review) this card is downright cheap in price while very fine in quality. This means value to me. Because this Startech PCI Ethernet card installed easily, is a brand I can depend upon and is a great value I'm giving it 5 stars. I'm very glad this old interface card was still available on Amazon!

Works like a charm
Have an older motherboard that had a 10/100mb port. I needed a faster adapter for video conferencing. The original built-in 10/100 would lag on Zoom calls with large member base. Also my MB had several PCI slots and figured I might as well use one of them. Before installing I booted up my PC's BIOS and disabled the old port. I then Powered off the system, pulled the power cable from the back of the computer, and pressed the on/off button several times to make sure all power on the MB and peripherals was dissipated. I then opened the case and installed the card. I hooked my Ethernet cable, power cable and monitor and powered it on. I was prepared to have to insert the cards Driver CD when prompted, but to my joy, the OS immediately recognized the card and installed the necessary drivers. No need to use the Driver software CD. I then checked the status of the card using the OS System Information and it was set for 1000Mbps. The only modification that I made was to set the “Speed & Duplex” option to “1.0Gbps Full Duplex”. I then opened my browser and used one of the many “Internet Tests” to check my upload and download speeds. Both upload and download were one in the same. If you have an older system with PCI slots and you have high bandwidth through your Internet Service Provider (i.e.: Fiber Optic, or equivalent) I would say this card is well worth the modest price.

I was having a good deal of trouble with my internet connection before purchasing ...
I was having a good deal of trouble with my internet connection before purchasing and installing this product. There were a number of issues with connection latency and packet loss which my ISP was unable to troubleshoot after numerous calls to Tech Support and having Technicians out to my home. One of those techs mentioned the possibility that the issue may lie with my onboard LAN controller and I decided to take a gamble and buy this add-on card to offer an alternative connection to the cable modem. It seems to have solved the problem beautifully, as since installing I have had no issues. Installation was simple for someone with at least a basic knowledge of desktop construction, and I was able to complete during my lunch break. The product was immediately recognized by Windows 7 with no driver software required and began working within a few minutes. Overall I am pleased with the outcome and with this product. I would recommend to anyone who is looking to add additional LAN connections to their desktop, and for those looking for multiple connections (for in-home or small office server applications), there are multi-port versions of the product available.

Perfect plug and play solution for Windows 10
Great little card that is just plug and play for Windows 10. The card comes with a driver disk, but I didn't even need to take it out of it's sleeve, as I dropped it in an open slot in a PC, connected the LAN cable to the router and the card and fired up the computer. It just worked right out of the box, with Windows taking care of setup and I was up and running in less than 2 minutes. Great card, fast speeds as well and a perfect solution for a PC whose LAN port died, and a WiFi dongle has proved to be unreliable in the location or PC I had it in. Great purchase, this is probably the one you want.

Cheap upgrade for and old tower.
Great way to get gigabit networking on an old computer tower. Definitely faster than built-in fast Ethernet. Good quality despite price and purchase
