Ant the switch is goes through my surround sound system using only 1 port. if you have the ps4 on pause, and want to throw a dvd on using another system. it will not auto switch. you MUST manually switch inputs.after knowing the above statement. i have them all off and want to turn my ps3 on. 10% of the time it will not switch over unless i push the button. 90% of the time everything works as expected. Having the unit setup as i do and as i feel most would use it for, i feel the remote is sort of lazy mans fail safe for that 10%. like they said it doesnt work 100% of the time. so lets throw a remote in there just incase. If you want it you need to either purchase a universal transformer plug or if your savvy enough salvage your own.word of advice. if you buy this product and use the remote. do what i did to help remember what input is what. on the remote. LEAVE THE PLASTIC FILM ON IT! take a dry erase marker peel back the film under the buttons and write1.ps42.ps33.xbox3604.5.or what ever your configuration is. let it dry and roll the film back over it to protect it from rubbing off. Started reseting automatically? (Best i can describe it) black screen and hdmi power indicator on my audio video reciever started flickering like mad no matter what hdmi input number i had it on. Looked at the box and the blue led was going nuts. Unplugged my ps4 from the switch and plugged ut directly into my AV reciever. And all is fine. Switch is officially dead. Was nice while it lasted. Love the auto switch never had to use the remote really to change inputs. Set up AV to tv and video game consoles to switch. Never had an issue cause if one was turning on the other was off so auto switch was always seamless. ### ⭐⭐ I got these weird small dots during darker scenes. **UPDATED** *by J***R on Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2015* I bought this because I needed a way to connect an Apple TV, a PS3, PS4, and an Xbox One to a tv that only has three HDMI inputs and I didn't want to wear out the HDMI inputs on my TV while moving them around too much. It does work, and it doesn't need a power source as it does pull power from whatever is plugged into it (the item must be on though or it won't have any lights on or anything). My one issue for it is that when the screen is black or a darker color there are these small white dots that appear, almost like static. These are not as noticeable during the times when the screen is not as dark, but during a game or movie with a darker scenes or dark loading screens it did get annoying to see. I did notice a slight drop in picture quality from having the HDMI signal go through this as opposed to having it directly attached to the TV.I guess my consensus is that, if I were to do it again, I would probably buy a better quality one for more money, because I do like the way that it works, just the small static dots are starting to get on my nerves as I see them a lot. This is not a bad product if you are trying to save some money and the dots won't bother you, but if you're doing something more with it, I would suggest buying a better quality one.***********************I'm returning this item because when I tried to turn my PS4 on a bunch of lights just kept flashing and did not display an image or allow for any sound. No external power cord needed. Love that. As for the remote mine works like a charm. I am sitting about 10 feet from the IR receiver included with the unit. I push the button and it changes source.I highly recommend this product it fills the need of the short sighted manufacturers of today's TVs.If yours did not work I am sorry you should return it for a replacement.Amending my review.Recently my audio has intermittently been cutting out.
