It was warm enough to eat for me. The bowl in the middle and bottom keeps hot food better, but the upper bowl is a little worse. **Q: can a sandwich fit in these containers ?** A: No... You would have to cut it down to make it fit. You would be taking the crust off in a circle or you could just put the sandwich in the thermos and not us all the storage containers. I did that the few times I wanted a sandwich.
