Spend the extra, don't cheap out, great quality
I had a cheap feeder that one day emptied itself into the koi pond and thoroughly fouled the water. My brother encouraged me to look at this one, and I resisted as my pond isn't that big, just about 800 gallons. But now that it is installed, I am so pleased with it! It's easy to program, holds a generous capacity of feed, and has just been a great source of relief. When I'm gone this will be a great relief for my sisters who get very anxious about taking care of the koi.

Great with a few caveats
Purchased this automatic feeder to give us comfort taking week long trips. Programming takes a little getting used to but it works. Do a test to check portion amount that is released with each turn of the auger. We use Tetra pond sticks and one is enough for our setup. First caveat is that ideally you could be more granular - no pun intended - on the amount of food. Maybe quarter turns or something because not all food is the same shape so one turn will yield more or less food. On to my main caveat - weather resistance. The food is distributed via a sideways angled conical tube that swivels. This gives you freedom to position the hopper in one place and still get the food to the fish. Except that this cone tends to get sticky. Unsure if it’s humidity or only after it rains but I’ve come back to find the tube plugged. The auger still works per the schedule but because it can’t push the food out it just pulverizes it compounding the blockage. Unfortunately this has happened more than once so it’s definitely a design flaw. I still use when we go on trips but feel compelled to have someone check it if we’re going to be gone more than a week. Still recommend as I did a lot of reading and this seems to be the best at this price point, just keep in mind the few challenges I mentioned and you’re good.

Great unit!
Best of 3 different feeders I’ve tried. Lost power in one and squirrels hacked the other one. Not the easiest to program but once you get it set it runs flawlessly. 2 impellers included to match your food. I use Koi Vibrance soft sticks and performs well. Really like extra feed button to adjust seasonal volume or for amusing visiting children.

works great
went away on vacation (1 week) came back and still had some left. This thing works, just had to figure out how to get it far enough over the water so squirrels don't get to it.

Pond feed that can't stand being outdoors.
This feeder is not for outdoor use. The controller failed in three months. Support was not helpful. I tried to order another controller but they wanted me to send them a video. A video of the feeder not doing anything?! I actually decided to order another whole one. And this time, I used a plastic bucket to shield the controller from sun and rain. And guess what, it failed within three months again. The screen goes dark and that's it.

A great product, with one major caveat for outside use
I bought this for an outdoor installation, to feed the fish in our pond while we were out of town. To me, installation was straight-forward and simple, including screwing to a wooden plant extending beyond the edge of the pond in an effort to frustrate the local raccoons. Programming did have a bit of a learning curve but, once learned, seemed very logical and straight-forward. I just did it again for the first time in several weeks and it came back naturally. After about a week of experimentation with the large-, and small-small sized spiral inserts and various feeding schedules, we had things set up to feed the fish an acceptable amount on each of the 16 days we would be away. The fish were happy and so were we. Now the problem. The controller box mounts onto two pegs that feed into keyhole slots in the back of the controller box. This trades security for ease of lifting the controller off the pegs to make programming easier. Normally that would be a good thing; gravity works, holding the box in place. However, when we were out of town, something knocked the controller unit onto the ground; my guess would be a raccoon. It then rained, a lot, filling the controller box with water and destroying it. While there was no product defect until this happened, so arguably not their fault, Hygger's customer service department did not argue about getting me a replacement part for a modest price, and quickly. So, this is overall a great product, and I have no problem giving it 5 stars in light of the very excellent customer service. BUT, if you are planning to mount this outside, and have animals or anything else that might knock the controller box off its mounting pegs, I would suggest that you find a way to prevent that. My current solution involves some thin bungee cords that hold the box tightly to the post with the mounting tabs and make it at least very difficult to lift of the tabs, without obstructing the programming buttons.

Works great and retains programming
I wanted something that would feed my fish while I was gone on vacation and would retain its programming so I didn't have to start from scratch every time I needed to use it. Otherwise, I will keep feeding them myself. Since I needed a temporary mount, I screwed it onto the end of a piece of fence board and when I put it next to the pond, I put a couple of Adirondack chairs on the end of the board and it's very stable. Programming is easy there's a good YouTube video on how to do it. I don't know how, and for how long, but it actually retained the time of day when I unplugged it and then plugged it in again. My only complaint was that while I was gone, it rained very hard, the end of the spout got wet and the food got caught in a little dam at the end of the spout. So, I think I'm going to cut the end of the spout at a 45° angle so it's harder for rain to get in. I put a big screw high up in the wall in my garage and drilled a hole in the end of the board and I hang the feeder in the garage when not in use. I highly recommend this feeder.

We have a fair sized outdoor fish pond. This feeding unit has never let us down. Reliable and robust.

Although we have only had this product for less than a month, we are quite satisfied thus far. It is definitely designed for larger ponds with more than only a few fish. If you have a small pond with only a few fish, you would need a smaller unit. The lowest setting for a single portion still provides quite a bit of food for a single feeding. Due to the size of this unit, you likely wouldn’t want it sitting beside a small pond anyways. We have 32 fish (a mix of Koi and goldfish) in our pond and this unit works perfect for us. This product would be capable of feeding a large pond with A LOT of fish (based on the available settings for portion size and frequency of feeding). As long as it lasts us a few years, there is great value here.

Lo tengo en el exterior y el alimento está húmedo y no baja correctamente. Gasta mucha electricidad

The 2 biggest points are the large storage bin and the fact it is connected to the mains, so no flat batteries to worry about. Worth every penny
